SoCal Clash Standouts Pt. 1

With the high school basketball regular season still on hold in California, various grassroots events and showcases have popped up to help fill the void. One of those events, the annual SoCal Clash hosted by Beach City Hoops, was held this past weekend. The event featured some of the top high school talent in the classes of 2021 and 2022. The game was a close one with the 2022s pulling out the win late in the second half. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts from the game. <strong>1. Halle Sii - Chino Hills 2022</strong> Sii is the epitome of a hustle player. She fights for loose balls and crashes the glass strong. She gives it her all on the defensive end and she does a good job challenging shots. She’s a guard and she has some solid playmaking ability. She can attack the defense off the dribble and can get to the rim. She can shoot a bit too from the outside. An overall tough guard and good floor leader. <strong>2. [player_tooltip player_id="85334" first="Alexis" last="Pettis"] - Palisades 2021</strong> An Eastern Washington commit, Pettis is an explosive scorer with a strong midrange jumper. She’s a strong ball-handler who gets to her spots on the court. While she can shoot it well, she’s a slasher and really puts pressure on the defense attacking the rim. She can draw contact and get to the free-throw line. Has range out to the three-point line. She’s able to play both guard positions. <strong>3. Alexis Mead - Riverside King 2021</strong> Mead’s game has improved tremendously from the first time I saw her play. She’s a true floor leader and everything a coach wants in a point guard. Her vision is elite and she can create easy scoring opportunities for her teammates. She breaks down the defense and finds the openings. Can get all the way to the rim. Good outside shooter. She’s one of the toughest defensive players I’ve seen in her class. <strong>4. [player_tooltip player_id="160298" first="Ivy" last="Scott"] - Palisades 2021</strong> Scott’s defensive intensity is what really stands out to me. I’ve seen her play a couple of times now and she’s a solid on-ball defender. Moves her feet well and contests shots. She has good size and length for a wing player and she does a good job challenging shots at the rim. She’s very mobile; she can handle the ball and can post up and score in the paint. &nbsp;
