2021 Updated Rankings – Newcomers

The mid-season rankings for the 2021 Class were released earlier this week.  While there was little change in the top 20, there were some new additions to the rankings. These players have played a significant role in their team’s success.  I would expect these prospects to continue to rise when our next rankings are released during the Spring AAU season. (46)  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="257201" first="Amari" last="Burnette"]</strong> (5’7", SF, Hamilton) -  Burnette is the 3rd leading scorer on the top ranked Hamilton Huskies team.  In addition to averaging 7.6 points, she leads the team with 7.1 rebounds and 2.5 steals.  Burnette is extremely versatile and she is part of one the top guard trios in the state joining <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="113515" first="Amyah" last="Reaves"]</strong> and <strong>Graciela Royba</strong>l. Great work by Arizona Christian University’s coaching staff  in getting commitments from both Roybal and Burnette. Burnette has made a dramatic improvement in all areas of  her game this season. She was a major factor in the Hamilton vs Valley Vista game where she hit timely jumpers and she also had a team leading 8 assists in the competitive win. (69) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="257202" first="Haley" last="Montano"]</strong> (5’8", SF, Desert Edge) - Montano is averaging 16.3 points and nearly 10 rebounds a game for the improved Desert Edge team. Her season high is 27 points which came last week vs Mohave. She has good size for the combo guard position and her jumper is solid out to the 3 point line.  Montano is definitely a interesting prospect for the next level. She has steadily improved since her freshman season. Montano should have been ranked all along..but playing so far out west, we didn’t get a lot of opportunities to see her do her thing on the court. (78) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="257204" first="Kayla" last="Clark"]</strong> (5’6" PG, Bolder Creek) - Lead Guard Clark has been a terror on the defensive end for Boulder Creek while averaging 4.7 steals. She is an athletic, high energy player who plays an intense brand of basketball. Clark has been instrumental in the resurgence of the Jaguars squad. She also leads the team in rebounding at over 8 boards a game. (87) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="257210" first="Mary" last="Jo Gallegos"]</strong> (5’7", PG, Apollo) - The Apollo Hawks has been one of the most improved teams in Arizona and currently ranked in the Top 10 for the conference. Last year they posted a 12-15 record and they have improved significantly to 10-3 record so far this season with their 3 loses coming against ranked teams. All games were completive. We are aware of the year that [player_tooltip player_id="113527" first="Haylee" last="Weathersby"] is currently having which has been tremendous but Gallegos play has been solid and consistent playing while running the team. She is Apollo’s second leading scorer at 12.3 point a game and she is dishing out over 4 assists a game.  We expect her to continue to rise when the next rankings are updated. (90) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="257208" first="Ryan" last="Galvin"]</strong>, 6’0" PF, Walden Grove) - Walnut Grove is winless for the year but we cannot dismiss the season that Galvin is having while scoring  17 points and collecting 17 rebounds per outing. We also watched several AAU games during the Fall where she performed well. She has good size and length for the position and her best basketball is ahead for this interesting prospect. &nbsp;
