Shadow Creek has advanced to the 6A Region 3 finals with a 66-47 victory over Tompkins and will face the #1 team in Texas, Cy Creek featuring McDonald All-Americans [player_tooltip player_id="65878" first="Rori" last="Harmon"] and [player_tooltip player_id="97622" first="Kyndall" last="Hunter"] who have both signed to play for the University of Texas but first, here’s the quick rundown of the game
The first half was close, with two first-half threes from Mary Spencer, including a buzzer-beater to pull Tompkins within 30-28 at the half however in the 2nd half, it was all Shadow Creek
[player_tooltip player_id="97626" first="Bre’Yon" last="White"] (Oklahoma) has been the go-to offensive BEAST all season as she simply finds ways to put the ball in the basket and with her improved long ball shooting, she’s hard to contain as she finished with yet another double-double, 17 points, and 10 rebounds
Brooklin Brown-5’9 junior tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds for her own double-double, she also added two blocks and I was so impressed with Brown prior to the start of the season that I called her one of the most improved juniors in the state, as usual, I was right as she stepped up in a big way on center stage
[player_tooltip player_id="135363" first="R’Mani" last="Taylor"] had a team-high six assists as she truly understands how to run a team and control the tempo, after all, I called her a #D1Lock in the 5gth grade watching her dribble in street clothes but she sees the floor and can score when needed, especially from deep as she added 8 points which is also what her senior teammates Kyrah Lermon-5’10 PF and Rachel Anderson 6’0 P added not to leave out the tenacious defense from 5’0 G Da’Nae Williams
[player_tooltip player_id="200734" first="Crystal" last="Smith"] led Tompkins with 16 points, she too has added so much to her game each season from both the scoring defensive end, while Spencer and [player_tooltip player_id="134038" first="Flyin" last="Adeleye"] finished with eight points as they close out the season at 20-4 yet Adelye and [player_tooltip player_id="134029" first="Loghan" last="Johnson"], two of the top 2023 players in Texas will be back next season forming the nucleus for yet another run
Shadow Creek improved their record to 25-4 and will face an undefeated 30-0 Cy Creek squad who they lost to earlier in the season but they will be prepared and pumped, well both teams as this will determine who represents the region
