Class 4A Lower State: Darlington HS vs North Myrtle Beach HS

Region 6-4A was guaranteed to have a team in the SCHSL State Championship Class 4A next week in Aiken. The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs defeated the Darlington HS Lady Falcons for the second time this month 30-18 yesterday at Carolina Forest HS. The Lady Chiefs played a very stubborn defense all night long against the Darlington HS Falcons to advance to play Westside HS (Anderson) on Wednesday at USC-Aiken. <strong>Slow Start and Finish: </strong> Both team really struggled to score the ball today. The Lady Chiefs ran out to a 12-5 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The Lady Falcons could manage just 6 points heading into the 4th quarter down 23-11. <strong>8th Grader Steps Up: </strong> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-258670" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/02/F5DD0473-CFB8-438F-AF68-D36F8DAC1051.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="175332" first="Destinee" last="Vereen"]</strong> came up big at times today for the Lady Chiefs in the win. Vereen played very aggressive on the glass and the defensive end of the floor. Vereen finished the game with 7 points and was able to cause problems down in the paint with her play. <strong>Unsung Hero: </strong> <strong>Adiaiah Vereen</strong> was able to score 10 points and knockdown some mid-range jumpers today for the Lady Chiefs. Vereen hit some big shots down the stretch to secure the victory.
