GHSA State Championships: Day 3 Standouts
2021 5-9 G [player_tooltip player_id="118111" first="Jordyn" last="Dorsey"] – Cross Creek – North Carolina A&T
Playing five players the entire game until Erin Martin fouled out with two minutes left, Cross Creek turned to [player_tooltip player_id="118111" first="Jordyn" last="Dorsey"] to lead the Lady Backs to the promise land. Dorsey poured in 30 points on 7-13 shooting and grabbed 6 rebounds. She went 14-16 from the line. Dorsey scores at all three levels. She has a good first step and a strong body to finish at the rim. She creates space on the perimeter and can knockdown jumpers. North Carolina A&T is getting a potential All-Conference player.
2022 5-8 G [player_tooltip player_id="118145" first="Kaleigh" last="Addie"] – GAC
The sole focus of Cross Creek was to slow down [player_tooltip player_id="118145" first="Kaleigh" last="Addie"]. While they made things extremely difficult for her, they didn’t stop her but did somewhat contain her. Addie netted 18 points to go with 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Even facing a great defense and having an off-shooting night, Addie proved she can score with the best of them. Her ability to break down defenders is already at a D-I level.
2021 5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="118100" first="De’Mauri" last="Flournoy"] – Carrollton – Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt is getting a terrific player and person in [player_tooltip player_id="118100" first="De’Mauri" last="Flournoy"]. She didn’t have her best offensive game but she continued to battle and showed flashes of what makes her elite. She hit 3 threes and finished with 15 points and 4 rebounds but it was her 6 assists that really dazzled. Whenever Flournoy was able to get into the heart of the defense and draw defenders, she’d make lightning quick touch passes to teammates for open layups. Flournoy elevates those around her.
2022 5-5 PG [player_tooltip player_id="148901" first="Kehinde" last="Obasuyi"] – Carrollton
A dislocated shoulder ended Carrollton’s chance at upsetting Westlake. [player_tooltip player_id="148901" first="Kehinde" last="Obasuyi"] was lights out before hurting her shoulder on a blocked shot at the 1:13 mark of the third quarter with the Trojans down just 40-36. They would be outscored 24-10 with her on the bench. Obasuyi was 5-5 from the field with 13 points. The lefty is blazing fast and has a beautiful pull-up jumper. Her resiliency makes her a special player. She’s come back from an ACL tear already so I don’t expect her shoulder to stop her from reaching the D-I level.
2022 5-8 SG Taniya Latson – Westlake
Westlake dominated in the paint with drives to the basket, scoring 34 of their 64 up close. Latson pumped in 24 points and went 9-11 from the foul stripe. Her athleticism, defensive instincts and ability to get into the open court make her a dynamic player.
2022 5-10 F Camerah Langston – Westlake
Camerah Langston was a bit of an X-Factor for Westlake. She played areally strong game, knocking down mid-range jumpers and scoring up close. Langston pitched in 12 points and 7 rebounds. She could see a much bigger role moving forward.
