EOT Spring Gem State Classic: NW Select Black vs. Cal Sparks SS24

<strong>NW Select Black 67 - Cal Sparks SS24 Platinum 43</strong> NW Select Black matched up with Cal Sparks SS24 Platinum in Meridian, Idaho at the EOT Spring Gem State Classic.  Outside of the usual suspects for NW Select included [player_tooltip player_id="158539" first="Lizzy" last="Bennett"] from West Salem High School who is a versatile utility type of guard.  After the first half, NW Select Black led 32-21 as [player_tooltip player_id="158545" first="Rhyan" last="Mogel"] led the way with an ensemble of strong finishes at the rim along with some mid-range jumpers.  [player_tooltip player_id="158517" first="Halle" last="Hageman"] took the game over in stride in the second half as she had some impressive moves, scoring coast to coast as well as showing some nifty footing inside the paint.  Mia Score and Jazzy Davidson contributed as scorers and [player_tooltip player_id="255263" first="Ava" last="Heiden"] had a prolific game as an interior defender. Select took this game handily 67-43 in an all-out effort with contributions from all over the board. <strong>Jazzy Davidson 2025 6’1" SF NW Select</strong> - Jazzy finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block, and 2 steals as a lengthy scorer with a high aptitude for finishing in and around traffic.  She continued to show her precocious skills in a two-way effort as she makes a lot of plays with her abilities and awareness alone. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158545" first="Rhyan" last="Mogel"] 2023 5’10" SG NW Select</strong> - Mogel made her imprint on the game with a 14 point, 8 rebound, 3 assist, 3 steal effort as a high motor player who makes a lot of heads up plays based on effort alone.  That combined with her continually developing guard skills make her an all-around player with a competitive edge. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="207820" first="Mia" last="Skoro"] 2022 5’8" SG NW Select </strong>- Showed a lot of promise as an aggressive scorer who gets the rim consistently and finishes with strength.  Glue player who initiates other players through her awareness and passing.  Finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158517" first="Halle" last="Hageman"] 2022 5’6" SG NW Select</strong> - Dynamic guard who created plays out of thin air including her coast to coast basket.  Had a nice euro-step in the second half and continued to show consistency as a three-level scorer.  Finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists for Select. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="255263" first="Ava" last="Heiden"] 2024 6’2" C NW Select</strong> - Her first characteristic that strikes you is her size and she uses it exceptionally well out on the floor.  A mobile rim protector who has excellent timing skills and a natural rebounder.  Showed the ability to space the floor hitting a triple as well as mid-range shot.  Finished with 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
