WCEUAA 17s vs. The Wood – Weekend Showcase – Part 1

It was great to get back into the gym and watch some good girls basketball game and I ran into a good one this day. I walked into the MAP Sports Facility in Garden Grove on Saturday and caught a 17U game with West Coast Elite UAA Girls 17s vs. The Wood (Lynwood HS girls) playing one another on the #1 floor. I setup my portable chair and watched this game from start to finish and then proceeded to talk with a few of the girls after the game was over. I got some headshots of a few of them and you know the drill, I evaluated a few of them, let me know what you think about these evaluations.
2022, 5’9, SG, Westlake Village HS, Mariah Elohim Mariah Elohim 5'9" | SF Westlake Village HS | 2022 State CA – Mariah surprised us with her shooting ability, I had heard that she had a nice stroke, but I watched it for myself and witnessed it in this particular game. She has nice size and a great basketball body, but she was capable of handling the ball and getting it to teammates, but when they hit her on the wing it was nothing but splash. Shot maker for sure, give this one a look.

– London is not new to us on the PGH California site, she is a player we have covered in numerous articles on our sites. London is a combo guard that can run the point guard, but her real talent is in scoring the ball. She is crafty and quick and has a very nice pull up game from the midrange area and work on more consistent three point shot on the floor. She is a kid to watch and coaches should be tuned in to make the determination on her.
2024, 6’0, SF, Paraclete HS, Layla Davis – Layla is a baby on the floor, but I could not tell that when I watched her play in this game. She did all of the things correct as a down low player, she rebounded, she ran the floor and finished at the rim, she could seal you in the post and finish as well. She had a nice midrange from the free-throw line and could swing thru and get to the rim for a basket.
