Shore Conference 2021 Season Recap Pt. 2

The 2021 New Jersey girls basketball season was a roller coaster to start as no one truly knew when basketball would return to the Garden State, but when it did, we got to witness some of the best basketball anywhere in the county. Nowhere was that more true than the Shore Conference, which was one of the most entertainingly competitive conferences anywhere in the state during the 2021 season. Prep Girls Hoops has enjoyed covering the conference at length this season, and as PGH NJ continues its multi-part season recap of the Shore, we look at the best players in Pods 3 &amp; 4. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134607" first="Destiny" last="Adams"] - F, Manchester Township</strong> Adams, a North Carolina commit, was nothing short of insane in her senior season with Manchester Township, averaging 30.0 PPG, 18.7 RPG, 3.1 APG, 2.5 BPG and 2.1 SPG. You didn’t read those stats wrong; Adams averaged 30 points a game and joined the elusive 2000 point club at Manchester Township. In her final two high school games, Adams put up two-straight 40-point, 20-rebound games, including a career-high 50 points in her final high school game, an 89-71 win over Jackson Memorial. She’s been an exciting watch the last four years, and that’s just the beginning as she joins the ACC, one of the best women’s college basketball conferences in the nation.. <strong>Lila Shaver - G, Point Pleasant Boro</strong> There were several players to pick from on a balanced team like Point Pleasant Boro, but Shaver was the pick of the bunch, the program’s lone senior in 2021. She took the role to heart, averaging 14.2 PPG, nearly 2.5 made three-pointers a game and nearly 1.5 SPG this season. She was one of the best three-point shooters in the conference, excelling from beyond the arc, moving well off-ball and possessing the ability to shoot from just about anywhere on the offensive half. Shaver was an exciting watch throughout and was just as effective driving into the lane as she was nailing outside shots. What a way to have a senior send-off. <strong>Maura Carney - G, Jackson Liberty</strong> Carney was one of two seniors this season from Jackson Liberty, and she has a fantastic talent to fill her role next season in freshman guard Chelsea Lavezzo, but this was Carney’s team to lead in 2021. She averaged 14.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.7 SPG and just over two made threes a game. She lit it up from outside the arc, far and away Jackson Liberty’s best three-point shooter this season. Carney joined the 1000 point club this season, finishing with over 1100 points in her career. She was the veteran presence that the Lions needed in 2021 and her well-rounded game will be missed. <strong>Nina Emnace - G, Trinity Hall</strong> Trinity Hall had two major freshman contributors in 2021, but Emnace emerged as a budding superstar this season, averaging 11.9 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2.1 APG and 3.2 SPG. Her defense partnered well with junior Haven Dora as the two combined for over 100 steals in the shortened season. Emnace led the team in scoring as a freshman while fellow freshman Siobhan Stapleton led Trinity Hall in rebounding. Emnace is someone who welcomes contact in the lane and drives with authority for the tough bucket. She’s a strong foul shooter and will get plenty more opportunities over the next three years to continue to craft her game as a go-to scoring option. <strong>Hannah Orloff - F/C, Freehold Township</strong> Orloff was part of a cast of seniors who led Freehold Township this season and continued her dominance in the paint. She led the Patriots in scoring and rebounding in her final high school season, averaging 13.3 PPG, 4.5 RPG and 1.0 BPG as Freehold Township hovered around .500, finishing 7-8. Orloff is a patient, but aggressive scorer on the inside, creating space for her to score. She wasn’t afraid to use her 6-2 frame to back down defenders or create havoc on the defensive end for her opponents.
