Part 3 of the New Faces I caught performing at the prestigious Heart Of Texas on Day 2
Tiffani Hamm-5'10 SG/SF (Team Takeover NTX Red) 2021
Hamm showed me something quickly, she understood how to create her shot as well as get it off and when you factor in she was consistently knocking it down from 10-15 feet, seeing her dropping it from BTA was just as impressive. She does a good job on defense, played the passing lane, and rebounded
Trinity KIng-5'8 SG (Team Lex Loaded)
King was definitely QUEEN on the court as she took me back to #THROWBACK days by outrebounding players over "the magic number" and her slicing to the basket from the wing, understanding not only how to use her body yet showing body control just took me back to another era. She is also one of those "never takes a play off" types that dives after loose balls and just BATTLES
Megan Gray-5'5 PG (Oklahoma Fusion 2022 Red)
Gray is a heady point guard that controlled the tempo, saw the floor, and was vocal on the court yet her enthusiasm trickled down to her teammates, that's an intangible but so is the way she hustles on both ends of the court and as I've stated before, I love things you can't teach yet she also showed she could stretch the defense by knocking down the long ball
Josie Story-5'10 SF (Shock 2022-Black)
Story has me SHOCKED that I missed something when I glanced at her in my Battle In The Big Friendly article and that was "she also can shoot the long ball" but it seems like everyone in that organization can shoot the three so her ability to score and rebound over taller players as well as defend on the perimeter had me smiling and so did her passing
Aleena Dawkins-5'8 SG (Sky Digg Elite 17U)
Dawkins is one of those players I can count on finding when I stop and see this squad, no, I don't recall seeing her because I definitely don't miss much, and seeing her on the floor after loose balls raised my eyebrow, yeah #THROWBACK and when she played the passing lane, both were raised yet she raised the roof using her athleticism to create her shot under pressure and knock the mid to long-range jumper down with a hand in her face
[player_tooltip player_id="197963" first="Meredith" last="Mayes"]-6'2 C (Team Griffin Elite 2023) 2023
Mayes grabbed my attention from afar with [program_tooltip program_id='715920' first='B2B' last=''] blocks yet her timing wasn't the only thing that stood out, she rebounds well on both ends of the floor, and her numerous putbacks, many after contact definitely popped out at me. She catches the ball well, nice touch around the basket and she runs the floor after igniting the break yet she hasn't peaked
Rebekah Juett-5'9 SG (Texas Elite 16U 3SSB)
Juett understands how to create her shot while being defended, that's a good thing because she can either take the jumper or attack the rim but observing get after it on the boards, she also understands positioning which enabled her to outrebound taller players, and then it happened, she played the passing lane, numerous times which is always a plus
