There are many outstanding power forwards in the class of 2022 including two - [player_tooltip player_id="137278" first="Saniyah" last="Neverson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="73480" first="Talia" last="Dial"] - from the same high school, PHH Prep. Here’s a look at the top five: [player_tooltip player_id="137278" first="Saniyah" last="Neverson"] is a 6-1 power forward for PHP Prep and also plays for Arizona Select, her grassroots team. She recently transferred from Valley Vista High School where, as a sophomore, averaged 13.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.0 steals. As a freshman and sophomore for the Monsoon, Saniyah played in 26 games averaging 8 points and 9 rebounds per contest. As a freshman, she shot 52% from the floor. Valley Vista defeated Hamilton in March of 2020, 42-38, for the State Championship. One scout commented that "Saniyah has the softest pair of hands. She has great positioning skills as a rebounder and can guard anyone in the backcourt or in the paint. She is also one of the best passing forwards in the state who can also spread the floor with her outside jumper. " She enrolled at PHP Prep last August and has already received a college offer from Hartford. As she approaches her senior year, more scholarship offers will be coming in from major programs. [player_tooltip player_id="259102" first="Kishyah" last="Anderson"] is a 5-10 power forward for Mountain Pointe High School and is also a member of 602 Lady Nation, her grassroots team. The Pride had an overall record of 16-8 last winter, 9-1 in their region. Kishyah averaged 13.3 points per game. As a freshman, she averaged 8.4 points per game. Kishyah is also a member of the Lady Pride softball team. Playing for new coach Rehema Stephens, one scout had this to say about Kishyah. "She is an excellent finisher with quick feet. She has an offensive arsenal, and very intense defender and rebounder. She is also a good inside shooter but can also hit the three-point shot." Going into her senior year, she should be Mountain Pointe’s leading scorer as the Lady Pride should have an outstanding season. [player_tooltip player_id="73480" first="Talia" last="Dial"] is a 5-10 power forward for PHH Prep in El Mirage who also plays for Arizona Select. As a freshman at Dysart High School, she averaged 16.7 points per game and 21.6 points per game as a sophomore. The Demons finished 15-13 in 2020 and 8.2 in their division. In her first two years, Talia averaged 19.2 points per game and 5.3 rebounds. She was chosen as the 4A Black Canyon Region Player of the Year as a sophomore and ranked fifth in the state in scoring. Talia was named Dysart’s Player of the Year for 2018-19. She is also a member of the volleyball team. Talia was selected Player of the Game by Max Preps a total of 18 times during her sophomore year. She then transferred from Dysart to PHH Prep for the start of her junior year. Her game has improved considerably from the start of her freshman year at Dysart and she and the Panthers should be ready for a tremendous season in her senior season, the winter of 2021-2022. [player_tooltip player_id="214601" first="Miquedah" last="Taliman"] is a 5-10 guard/power forward for Page High school She also plays for her grassroots team, the Lake Powell Gunners. Page won the 3A State Championship last March, defeating Snowflake, 36-32. In that game, Miquedah contributed 13 points, four rebounds, an assist, and a steal. It was Page’s fourth consecutive state championship appearance, having lost to Sabino in 2020. Under Head Coach Ryan Whiteline, the Sand Devils went undefeated (18-0) and finished 8-0 in their region. Whiteline was selected as the 3A Coach of the Year and Miquedah was chosen as the 3A Player of the Year by AZPreps365. Her scoring average has continued to climb during her three years at Page. As a freshman, she averaged 6.6 points per game, 8.4 as a sophomore, and 13.9 as a junior. Her average for a total of 78 games is 8.9 points per game. Page will be loaded for Miquedah’s senior year and could be the odds on favorite to capture another state title. Sienna Mitchell is a 6-1 power forward who plays for Apollo High School in Glendale. Last winter, under Head Coach Susan Prado-Ortiz, Apollo had an overall 12-6 record and 10-2 in their region. They lost to Sunrise Mountain, 76-43, in the 2021 playoffs. Sienna averaged 5.4 points per game and 7.4 rebounds a game. Her two-year numbers - as a sophomore and junior which include 27 total games - show an average of 4.4 points and 8.1 rebounds. She averaged 3.0 points per game as a sophomore. Sienna has improved every year as a player - both offensively and defensively. She is a tenacious defender and outstanding rebounder. With many players returning for her senior season, the 2021-2022 campaign should be an outstanding one for Apollo.
