2022 Scorers to Watch 5-6 PG [player_tooltip player_id="118143" first="Bridget" last="Utberg"] – Woodstock The stylish playmaker nearly led Woodstock to a state championship as she poured in a Class 7A best 23.2 points per game. Utberg is a high-usage guard that competes on both ends. She’s extremely crafty when getting to the basket, capable of finishing with either hand from tough angles all while avoiding shot blockers. Her three-point shot was locked in this past season, drilling 99 threes and converting at a 40% clip. She’s a target for Mid-Major and High Major programs. 6-0 G [player_tooltip player_id="118139" first="Sydney" last="Bowles"] – Woodward Academy A career 23.8 point per game scorer, Bowles averaged 22.7 points and 8.7 rebounds as she powered Woodward Academy to a state championship. Bowles can score at all three levels and has size that presents mismatches all over the floor. She loves her jump shot and is a dangerous outside shooter, but she’s at her best when she mixes up her perimeter game with driving to the basket. Bowles is a college-ready scorer. 5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="118145" first="Kaleigh" last="Addie"] – GAC [player_tooltip player_id="118145" first="Kaleigh" last="Addie"] scores on and off the ball. She can be a devastating isolation player that can get to the basket with a quick decisive crossover or spot up on the perimeter and drill threes. Addie of course is a threat to pull-up from three off the dribble and can also create for others once she gets downhill. She netted 20.8 points per game. 5-7 CG [player_tooltip player_id="210308" first="Jakia" last="Little"] – Northeast-Macon [player_tooltip player_id="210308" first="Jakia" last="Little"] looks the part. She’s an athletic wiry guard with lean muscle. She’s quick with the ball and can get into the teeth of the defense, using euro steps to avoid defenders. Little hits the mid-range pull-up and has three-point range. Her cat-like reflexes on defense allow to earn steals and deflections at a high rate. She pitched in 18.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5 steals as a junior. 5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="238213" first="Sophie" last="Smith"] – Denmark Some players just move different from others. [player_tooltip player_id="238213" first="Sophie" last="Smith"] is one of those players. She looks like a D-I player with how athletic and precise she is with the ball. She has deep three-point range and has an elite handle when probing defenses. Smith is tough in pick-and-roll settings. She can maneuver the screen to get to her spots in the mid-range or she can deliver dimes to rollers. She averaged 16.6 points and 3.8 assists last season. 6-0 G [player_tooltip player_id="148861" first="Flau’jae" last="Johnson"] – Sprayberry This blue-chip prospect is on every High Major’s wish list. With her size and ability to attack the rim, Johnson can be unstoppable at times at the high school level. When she puts her head down and decides to get into the paint, there is little that the defense can do. Johnson is a solid outside shooter and a fun playmaker that feeds off the energy of the crowd. Continuing to put effort into her defense will help her reach her potential as a star two-way player. 5-10 G [player_tooltip player_id="186270" first="Jillian" last="Bretz"] – Forsyth Central [player_tooltip player_id="186270" first="Jillian" last="Bretz"] is flying under the radar as a very talented scoring guard with size. She’s proven that she can score at all three levels. Bretz has a smooth game. She can pull-up on a dime for the mid-range, hit the three off the bounce or take it all the way to the rim. D-II and D-III programs have offered. All it will take is one strong weekend in front of D-I coaches before interest and offers start to materialize.
