Fall Recruiting Showcase in San Juan Capistrano — Standouts

PGH was in the house last weekend for the Fall Recruiting Showcase Camp put on by Strickly Gurlz Media in San Juan Capistrano to take in a talented group of athletes that have been working on their respective games for much of the past year. Here's who stood out! <h3>Notable perimeter players:</h3> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">2022, 5’9” PG/SG, Crean Lutheran HS, [player_tooltip player_id="162822" first="Taylor" last="Feldman"]</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Taylor ended the first game of the camp with two steals in the final 30 seconds to get the win in regulation. First steal coming off of man to man pressure where she cuts off the offensive player near half court on the right sideline and gets an easy layup to tie up the game. Next possession down with less than 10 seconds on the clock Taylor reads a pass from the strong side and gets a clear path lay up for the go ahead bucket for the win. </span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Taylor showed flashes of creativity on and off the ball offensively. She can knock down the jumper from beyond the arch or get paint touches. Soft hands around the basket and a high percentage free throw shooter. Defensively she uses her long arms as a weapon and plays with a motor. </span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">2022, 5’5” PG/SG, King HS, [player_tooltip player_id="204045" first="Jordan" last="Arreola"]</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="204045" first="Jordan" last="Arreola"] shines from beyond the arc, don’t leave her open or you’ll pay. Feisty, high energy, and handles the ball well under pressure. She plays with composure and reads the floor. Defensively this girl gets after it, she guarded bigger players with no issues. Don’t sleep on this one she’ll  get in her groove and drop a quick ten to fifteen in a flash.</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">2022, 5’3” PG, Chaminade Prep HS, [player_tooltip player_id="103346" first="Kayla" last="Cabaccang"]</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="103346" first="Kayla" last="Cabaccang"] is a ball of fire, athletic and crafty with the ball in hand, and finishes around the basket with an arsenal of shots. She has a good anticipation for the game on both ends of the court. One of the quickest first steps here at this showcase with the ball in her hand. Defensively Kayla is a pest you can’t get rid of until the game is over. Even then I think she’s still inside the opponent’s head. You can’t measure this girl’s game by the size of her height, because she’s got heart.</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">2024, 5’10” PG/SG, Xavier Prep Academy, <strong>A’moree Ferrel</strong> </span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">A’more Ferrel is a long lengthy guard who can knock down the open 3 ball. She uses her height well but needs to be more physical. She sees the floor well but as the game speeds up mistakes happen. If she continues to develop, she will be a mismatch problem because she has a fadeaway jumper she shoots with confidence.</span> <h3>Posts/Forwards:</h3> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">2022, 5’8” Forward, St. Mary’s HS (Stockton), <strong>Sophia Lee</strong></span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">If you didn’t know her age you probably would be amazed at how well her composure is on the court. Skilled wing player who likes to bang down low and a ball magnet. She can finish the mid range and showed glimpses of her outside game but she loves to drive to the basket and draws fouls.</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">2024, 6’1” Post, Edison HS (Stockton), [player_tooltip player_id="166835" first="Emani" last="King"] </span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Emani is stronger than she looks and plays to her strengths well. She has a nice feel for the game and is athletic and lengthy. She uses her mid range game very well against bigger players with a turn around blow by to get to the basket. If she is established on the block, she hits that drop step with ease. Would love to see her play with more fire around the basket on both ends of the floor. Emani is young and full of potential. </span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">2024, 5’10” Forward, Tracy HS, <strong>Aliya Tipton</strong></span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Aliya showed great tenacity on the court and has the instincts of a wing player. She’s a lefty that can fill it up from beyond the arch. Physicality is a big part of the game that she’s missing but she won’t back down from competition. Good understanding of the game for such a young lady.</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">2025, 6’1” Post, <strong>Paige Worthem</strong> </span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Paige is young and in that development stage, she has the size to bang bodies and isn’t afraid of contact. She’s a fighter and a go-getter, and you can see the passion she has for the game. Slower than most but once she gets settled down she owns the paint. </span> &nbsp;
