Class of 2024 Standouts – 1A

It’s hard to get on the floor as a freshman for your school’s varsity team. Let’s highlight Colorado’s top scoring freshmen from the 2021 CHSAA season. Starting with 1A: [player_tooltip player_id="118726" first="Jenna" last="Krise"] - Briggsdale - 15.3 PPG <ul> <li>Are Briggsdale opponents seeing double? Jenna’s the cousin of all-state, thousand-point scorer, [player_tooltip player_id="117683" first="Kylie" last="Krise"] (2022, 5’10"). After a six-point tune-up game, the younger Krise dropped double digits in every game the rest of the season, ending with 23 and 26 point bombs in the playoffs. She hit 32% of her threes and was efficient at 1.3 points per shot. The Krise cousins will play together for one more year before Kylie graduates.</li> </ul> [player_tooltip player_id="263610" first="Emma" last="Cox"] - Flatirons Academy - 14.7 PPG <ul> <li>The current 1A state champions, Flatirons Academy, will be hard to beat for at least three more years. The 6’0" double-double machine, [player_tooltip player_id="263610" first="Emma" last="Cox"], is a big reason why (10.1 RPG). She went off for 33 points against fellow heavyweight, Briggsdale, and the young star showed she can even step out and hit the three if left open, knocking down five on the season.</li> </ul> Emily DeHaan - Flatirons Academy - 11.3 PPG <ul> <li>Cox is joined by her 5’8" classmate, Emily DeHaan, who ended the season with double digit scoring in five of her last six games. DeHaan and Cox working inside/outside together is a tough combo made even better when combined for two more years with superstar guard, [player_tooltip player_id="145424" first="Kenlee" last="Durrill"] (2023, 5’10", 16.3 PPG, 5.0 APG, 5.5 RPG, 5.6 SPG).</li> </ul> Dezirae Gonzales - North Park - 11.0 PPG <ul> <li>The 5’9" Gonzales was one of North Park’s three main contributors this season along with Paige Sanchez (2022, 5’4", 20.0 PPG) and Kaylee Carlstrom (2022, 5’3", 13.3 PPG). Dezirae put up 11.0 PPG and 10.6 RPG, 8th in the Western Slope-North league in scoring and 2nd in rebounds per game.</li> </ul> Sedonia Isenbart - Kit Carson - 9.8 PPG <ul> <li>Let’s do some math. The Wildcats had five players score more than 5.0 points per game this year. At an enrollment of 33 according to the CHSAA bulletin, that’s 15% of the whole school. At that rate, your typical 1000 student 4A school would have 150 girls who can score! Something in the water down there in Kit Carson. Anyway, the last of the Isenbart sisters is here to terrorize the league and Sedonia is a good one. At 1.4 points per shot and 38% behind the arc, you can tell she’s played a ton of ball with her dominant older sisters, Aurelia, Micayla, Olivia, and Reyna.</li> </ul> [player_tooltip player_id="263618" first="Ginny" last="Shade"] - Rocky Mountain Lutheran - 8.7 PPG <ul> <li>The 5’8" newcomer, [player_tooltip player_id="263618" first="Ginny" last="Shade"], was a bright spot for Rocky Mountain Lutheran this year. Grabbing 4.8 steals per game, this point guard showed she’s in for an impactful career.</li> </ul> Makenna Sutter - Merino - 8.4 PPG <ul> <li>Sutter made an experienced Merino roster better and made the most of her opportunities. She was the team’s 3rd leading scorer and 2nd leading rebounder (5.9 RPG).</li> </ul> Haylee Smith - Nucla - 8.1 PPG <ul> <li>Smith will take on a big role as she'll be the Mustangs highest scorer returning next year. She ended the season with a 9 point, 10 rebound, 4 assist, 4 steal array against Ouray and helped Nucla get to .500 for the first time in four years.</li> </ul>
