Since the beginning of spring, I was able to see a lot of new prospects who were unfamiliar to me. After watching them throughout the season, their performances earned them a spot in this rankings update. Here are some of the players who started on the watchlist in March and have played their way into the top half of the ranks this spring. [player_tooltip player_id="283103" first="Emi" last="Roberto"] - CT Supreme/Trumbull - 6’1’’ - SG ’22 Rank: #15 Roberto is one of the more versatile players in her class, and I like how she has the physical gifts and skill set to play her anywhere on the floor on both sides of the ball. I think Roberto is the most valuable player on her team because she can do a little bit of everything and impact the game in many ways. On offense, she can score in one-on-one situations and shoot off the dribble. Roberto is the most dangerous shooter on the team because she can effortlessly shoot over the top of the defense. Roberto runs the floor well and has excellent court vision, which increases her value because you know the ball won’t stick with her when she catches it. On defense, she can guard more than one position, and even though she is not a rim protector, Roberto’s quick hands on defense help break up plays. At Spookynook and the Philly Showcase, Roberto stood out, and I think with her skill set and size can be a top 10 prospect as the summer heats up. https://x.com/emiroberto3/status/1395241226920681476 [player_tooltip player_id="279971" first="Mackenzie" last="Sirowich"] - CT Supreme/Seymour - 5’10 - CG ’22 Rank: #24 Sirowich is coming off a knee injury, and when I saw her at the Philly Showcase, she had only played a handful of games post-recovery. You could tell she was shaking off some rust and trying to find her rhythm but still showcased some encouraging flashes of elite skills that make me excited to watch her this summer. Once she gets into a groove, she is a top 15 caliber player, and one of the reasons is that she is a big guard who wants to use her size to dominate her opponent. During the game I saw in Philly, she sniffed out a mismatch and immediately sealed in the post. Sirowich is a quick decision-maker on offense, and when she attacks the basket, she is aggressive and powerful. I like Sirowich’s makeup and how tough she is. She gives maximum effort on defense, and once she gets more time on the court, she can be a tenacious defender because of her size and strength. Like [player_tooltip player_id="283103" first="Emi" last="Roberto"], Sirowich can be another prospect who can be a top 10 caliber player if she hits her ceiling. https://x.com/CTSupremeElite/status/1394657315937128449 [player_tooltip player_id="266690" first="Leanne" last="Wydom"] - Mass Mavericks/Marlboro - 5’11’’ - PF ’22 Rank: #26 Wydom is unique because she is one of the few bigs who have the offense run through her consistently. She impressed me all spring with her playmaking ability and court vision. The Mavericks’ offense flowed and was smooth when Wydom caught the ball in the high post. If she was not hitting cutters in stride, Wydom would knock down the mid-range jumper with ease. She is excellent with her back to the basket and can be a playmaker on the block. You noticed her value in the games where she was not in the lineup. The Mavericks in the halfcourt could not run the same offensive sets that they usually would run because Wydom was that efficient in the high post. She changes the whole dynamic of the team’s offense just with her presence on the court. From an impact standpoint, you would not find many players more valuable to their team than Wydom from the spring. https://x.com/JDicruttalo/status/1395575770244911104 [player_tooltip player_id="289631" first="Grace" last="O’Gara"] - Sting Elite/South High - 5’5’’ - CG ’22 Rank: #37 O’Gara got my undivided attention when she lit up the New England Showcase 2 weeks ago. The 5’5’’ combo guard is electric in scoring the basketball and is impressive because she does most of her damage shooting off the bounce. It is mindblowing how easy it is for her to get shots off at her size when guarded tightly. She was a walking bucket all weekend, and these weren’t fluke performances. I watched O’Gara the following week at practice, and all the drills and moves she does during her workout are reminiscent of what I saw in-game the weekend prior. O’Gara has perfected the art of getting to her spot whenever she wants, and it’s by crafty and shifty ball handling along with an aggressive attacking mindset that has her as one of the deadliest scoring guards in her class. [player_tooltip player_id="263855" first="Gabby" last="Redford"] - Mass Elite/Amesbury - 5’10’’ - CG ’22 Rank: #47 Redford is a brilliant scorer who consistently filled up the stat sheet throughout the spring. What has made Redford so effective on offense is that she moves with purpose. Watching her off the ball, Redford comes off screens hard, catching in triple threat position ready to make a play. She is a legitimate three-level scorer who uses the whole court to score and utilizes the mid-range area well. I think Redford has been most dangerous in transition. Going downhill, she has been one of the best players scoring the basketball. Using an array of moves to elude the defense and able to finish with both hands, Redford has become one of the most complete bucket getters in the class of ’22. Redford punishes opposing guards with her 5’10 frame and athleticism and can easily separate from bigger forwards using her quickness and elusiveness. https://x.com/gabbyredford7/status/1396549256769642497 [player_tooltip player_id="263800" first="Camryn" last="Fauria"] - Bay State Jaguars - 6’0’’ - SF/PF ’22 Rank: #55 Fauria instantly stood out to me because she can impact a game without the ball in her hands. She is one of the toughest players I saw and, during the New England Showcase, had no problem putting a body on someone, snatching rebounds, and working hard on defense. Fauria is a skilled scorer. She can snipe from three, finish around the basket, and has a nice mid-range package, but it’s all the other things she brings to the table that makes her most valuable to a team. Fauria proving she can be effective without touching the ball is encouraging to see because I know she can excel on any team, no matter who is on the roster. Fauria can defend the post very well and has the lateral quickness to stay in front of the wings on the outside. She opens up her teammates with bone-crushing screens and constantly crashes the offensive glass hard. Fauria is one of my favorite players because of her high motor and willingness to do all the dirty work that helps a team win.
