I really like the overall talent level I see in this 2022 class. Tons of versatility and upside from the top of the rankings, to the middle, and to the end. I am bewildered to learn that many of these highly skilled players have not verbally committed or made a decision to go somewhere, as I see rigorous, God-given skillset in these hoopers; and I think their ability is very easy to identify. The best thing about this is; time is not necessarily of the essence, and these kids have a good window of time here to increase their stock and stand out in AAU and high school games. We approach July here in two days, and this is a huge month for these AAU hoopers to set the tone and stage for themselves in terms of them balling out big, putting up high numbers, and displaying their passion and love for the game in every event they attend. Just because the majority of 2022 prospects around the country have already committed to colleges, does not mean that coaches are set with the class of 2022 recruiting classes. So, this in turn is a critical time for these incoming seniors who have not verbaled somewhere; to show their stuff and perform to the best of their ability. This is the same for the 2021-2022 high school season as well. Someone is always watching, even when you don’t expect or think they are. I will now pick back up with the analysis reports of five players in this 2022 class who can easily break into a collegiate program lineup as freshman. Not sure on the level; as this varies, however, it is never too late for these players to make themselves aware to coaches at all five levels (DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, NJCAA). [player_tooltip player_id="129038" first="Elle" last="Street"], 5’8, SG, Ankeny Centennial, 2022 Elle is a talented player, and she is a kid with a high basketball IQ. I thoroughly enjoy her ability to get into the lane and finish at the rim. She has the sincere knack to drive to the basket at a high level and finish some difficult shots off balance or with a hand in her face. She can also shoot the ball and has a great 3-point shot. I think she has superb passing skills and can create shots for fellow teammates, displaying her knowledge of the game. In the open floor, she is a tremendous finisher on the break; and it’s always a two point basket being made when she approaches the rim. It is not uncommon to see her block shots, as she has a nice wing span. She can rack up the boards to the ceiling on both ends of the floor too. Miraculous upside. https://www.hudl.com/profile/12002404/Elle-Street [player_tooltip player_id="129030" first="Payton" last="Beckman"], 5’5, PG, Panorama, 2022 61 is all I got to say. This one of a kind, rare 3-point assassin shot lights out this recent high school season going 61-159 from 3-point land in 24 games as a junior in a time of uncertainty with the COVID-19. If you think about it, this is surreal in a way; as that number “61”; I mean to hit in the 60’s range in under 25 games is just flat out simply the definition of perfection. You have to really be a great shooter to knock down this many. Payton also has a tremendous all-around offensive game going with the ability to drive to the basket, get out in transition and finish bunnies, and was 93-16 from the FT line; if that is giving you any kind of indication of her “holy cow” shooting stroke. I would be setting screens for this kid all day. She can also throw out some passes to teammates to make her a very high IQ player. With her quickness and athleticism, she can mix it up on the defensive end to tally up the steals as well. Exciting upside. https://www.hudl.com/profile/12068774/Payton-Beckman [player_tooltip player_id="163323" first="Sydney" last="Remmert"], 5’6, SG, Cedar Falls, 2022 Sydney is another pure sharpshooter with a fluid stroke. I like her overall game, as she does a lot of things well on the court. Her offensive skills are solid, and she also takes that same intensity over to the defensive end. She is a thief in passing lanes and can rack up the steals like there is no tomorrow. She is a phenomenal athlete, and thrives in the open floor. Her lack of size at 5’6 does not slow her down from tussling with the bigs and grabbing down the boards. She can also rack up the assists (dimes) and makes some terrific passes to fellow teammates. Phenomenal upside. https://www.hudl.com/profile/12154249/Sydney-Remmert [player_tooltip player_id="63629" first="Chloe" last="Frank"], 6’0, W, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, 2022 Chloe is a very natural, highly skilled hooper. In my opinion, is probably one of my top 10 thrilling kids to watch in all three classes. Yes, she has a 6’0 height frame, however, that is not what makes her so good and such an exciting player to watch. She has an alarming amount of versatility, and can just play the game very naturally. She can get to the rim, shoot the 3, post up inside, and displays the same skills on the defensive end. I love her up-tempo style of play, and I love watching kids who race the ball up the floor quickly and speed up the tempo a little bit. This can fool defenses; and if you've got a kid like Chloe who can take it full court and finish at the rim, but who can also create opportunities for fellow teammates by doing this; you've got a recipe of disaster for opposing teams. Is a stellar standout player who understands the game in and out. High IQ and electric basketball savvy. Significant upside. https://www.hudl.com/profile/11558255/Chloe-Frank https://www.fieldlevel.com/app/profile/chloe.frank.971862/basketballwomen?utm_campaign=athlete-profile-share&utm_source=fieldlevel&utm_medium=share [player_tooltip player_id="129034" first="Zoey" last="Buchan"], 5’3, PG, Johnston, 2022 Zoey is joining my list of favorite shooters in all three classes. Another lights-out stroker who can shoot the 3 with severe purity; as well as against all odds, meaning she can shoot it with consistency while having a hand in her face. She is very athletic and can create havoc on both ends of the floor by driving to the basket utilizing a great handle, can steal the ball, and can speed up the game on the break. Her passing skills are outstanding, and she has terrific vision. Size issues at 5’3; however, she has the natural talent to make up for the lack of height. If you've got skills, athleticism, and passion for this game; height does not matter. I see her becoming another top scoring threat next season at Johnston HS. Fabulous upside. https://www.hudl.com/profile/11998401/Zoey-Buchan
