The Adidas 3SSB Live Event in Dallas this past weekend had talent to watch at all levels. The 2023 guards really came ready to play and show out. Here are only a handful of some of the standouts that I saw!
2023 5’7’ PG #0 [player_tooltip player_id="115413" first="Malia" last="Samuels"] - (Northwest Greyhounds Black)
[player_tooltip player_id="115413" first="Malia" last="Samuels"] is an unselfish, vocal point guard who makes the right play or passes each possession. She was very patient when the ball is in her hands and ended up leading her team in assists. Can hit the mid or long-range pull-up but can drive hard and open herself up with a hard crossover. Her defense isn’t lacking either. All over whoever she was put on throughout the entire game.
2023 5’9" SG #5 [player_tooltip player_id="166168" first="Hannah" last="Kohn"] - (Candace Parker Hoop Dreams Elite 2022 3SSB)
Kohn is a knock-down three-point shooter that is playing a year up on their top 17u team. She plays extremely hard and is not afraid to get down on the floor for a loose ball. The type of player that gives it her all during her minutes, whether that is with talking or getting back on D quickly. She knows her role on this team but was still a real stand-out among the rest.
2023 5’7" PG #13 Josie Williams - (Arkansas Banshees 17U)
As a player that comes off of the bench for her team, she was a really big energy boost that hit a few big-time three balls in the first half. Josie knows that she is the shooter and tries to use the screens and plays drawn up for her to get open. Good handles and makes the smart decision.
2023 5’9" SG #21 SG Kelis Grant - (Texas Elite 16U 3SSB)
Kelis is a confident guard that finds the open teammate in traffic and can finish the tough pass. A long and athletic player that had a big-time block at the end of the first half. She has super quick hands and feet on defense. If she has a turnover, she will immediately get back and try to get the stop.
2023 5’11" SG #23 [player_tooltip player_id="134062" first="Payton" last="Hull"] - (Texas LoneStar Black)

Hull is a shooting guard that can get herself open and plays HARD. Wants to drive hard left, can finish after drawing the contact, and get to the free-throw line. She got multiple of her own rebounds and put them back up for second-chance points. Payton is a scorer in any way that she can.

Honorable Mention

2024 5’7" PG #20 [player_tooltip player_id="206969" first="Ashna" last="Tambe"] - (Texas Elite 16U 3SSB)
Tambe is long for her size, likes to run around, and causes a commotion. She is the first person back on defense each time. Knows how to get to the free-throw line. Overall solid player.
