I closed it out by trying to catch teams I hadn't seen on opening day, the Stanford Division was the top and many of the heavy hitters were playing there but at another site yet I'd catch most of them on the next day but let me close this out
Adryan Alvarez-5'4 PG (EP Hustle 2022) Del Valle HS
Alvarez is a heady PG that plays within herself, sees the floor, controls the tempo as well as handles the ball under pressure yet she also does what I love to see, plays the passing lane
2022
[player_tooltip player_id="137466" first="Precious" last="Jackson-Sanders"]-6'0 PF/C (3T Nation) Cy Fair HS
Sanders was erroneously listed as a sophomore when she was a freshman and had me juggling to move her in the rankings yet she's at a school where they can get it right as well as a club team so watching her overpower defenders in the paint has become common, she finishes with either hand and rebounds on both ends of the floor plus she defends
[player_tooltip player_id="292361" first="Nakia" last="Bardney"]-6'1 SF (Lady Meanstreets Armstrong) Simeon HS
Bardney is from Chicago yet she did so many positive things that I added her to my closeout because she's long and athletic, she attacks the rim from everywhere, finishes after contact, and is at the top of the press on defense yet her ability to play the passing lane was one of the best on opening day
Jaden Berry-5'6 CG (Lady Athletic Elite) Plano HS
Berry is very athletic and she's explosive off the dribble so her ability to get to the rim as well as finish was nice so was her playing the passing lane as well as stealing the ball
Rose Jamison-6'0 SG/SF (JBS 17U Orange) Rodriguez HS CA
Jamison showed some UPS and she's also "long and athletic" and did a good job not only rebounding on both ends but finishing with either hand
Alanna Colon-6'0 PF (EP Hustle 2022) Andress HS
Colon uses her size nicely in the paint, she does a good job rebounding on both ends and finished after contact, putbacks included, and then she showed the long ball, dropped it with ease
Carleece Gates-CG (UHE 17U Silver)
Gates open the fence as she attacked well, from, well everywhere and with a nice first step that enabled her to get by defenders, she showed she could finish strongly, even with the "float: as she closed the gate
2023
Ellie Maldonado-5'4 SG (San Antonio Unite Silver 2023) Marshall HS
Maldonado attacked the basket strongly, finished after contact, and showed a nice pull-up jumper but her playing the passing lane was definitely a treat
2024
Macie Grosskurth-5'10 SF/PF (Team Strive White) Burleson Centennial HS
Grosskurth uses her size nicely to outmaneuver defenders in the paint yet her putbacks over taller players was impressive, so was her midrange jumper yet that rebounding on both ends just stayed with me because she "gets it" as far as positioning and I see plenty of upside so watch out
Kiah Goynes-5'7 CG (Texas Elite Fort Worth) Crowley HS
Goynes not only handles the ball well but she sees the floor the same way and her attacking the rim to dish or score was very nice, so was her pull-up jumper and playing the passing lane. Her "on the ball" defense was smothering as she brought plenty of heat and her energy level remained high
