Continue ReadingThroughout the course of this month, I have been providing daily updates on players I’ve seen the previous day. Some articles will include strictly Indiana prospects, while others might include other Midwestern or National prospects. Below is a look at six additional young ladies who I felt stood out with their play in the games I was able to see Wednesday at the North Tartan Meltdown in Minnetonka, Minnesota. This is the second July “live” period of 2021.

Allison has a great deal of upside as a prospect, because she has both physical and athletic tools, combined with a solid skillset. She is extremely long, wiry-strong, and she’s a nice North/South athlete. She plays with a good motor, she’ll battle inside and try to be physical, and she does a solid job of coming over from help-side and blocking shots. Offensively, she’ll work to establish position around the block, and she can finish with an array of post-moves. At the same time, she’s very comfortable facing the basket in the mid-post.

I saw Emily a couple of times, and it was tough determining whether I thought she was more of a power forward or a wing. At the end of the day, I feel like she’s a nice ’4’ who faces the basket with ability around the perimeter. She’s a fairly fluid athlete, she has a lot of length and wiry strength, and she plays with a nice motor. She can put it on the floor and attack the basket straight-line to finish or pull up from 10 to 12-feet. She can knock down rhythm jumpers a little deeper than that, plus she can defend multiple positions equally well.
Erin Stack, 2022, 6-3 C, St. Charles North H.S. (IL)
Erin is another intriguing frontline prospect with some height. She has a wiry-strong frame, tremendous length, and she’s a solid North/South athlete. She plays hard but could stand to get a little stronger and quicker laterally, however she plays the game the right way, she tries to be physical inside, and she does a nice job of taking what the defense gives her. She is solid in the mid-post and can shoot/drive from there, plus she seeks contact, sits down low and wide on the block, and uses a variety of moves to finish.

Alivia has improved a great deal over this Spring and Summer. She has an athletic frame, some bounce to her, and she plays with a relentless motor. She never quits hustling, grabs a ton of rebounds, and creates second and third chances frequently. She is versatile defensively and can take on guards and wings, but she’s also tough enough to battle power forwards inside. Offensively, she’s still probably best attacking the basket off the bounce, but she can finish through contact, and she has nice touch in the mid-range game.

Elizabeth has played at a high level all Spring and Summer, but she’s been especially good throughout July. She has a long, wiry-strong, athletic frame, she moves well in all directions, and she is a quietly tough kid who doesn’t get rattled by much. I like the fact that she is a traditional point guard who handles the ball with poise, she doesn’t force the action and picks her spots to be assertive well, plus she finds open teammates on time/on target, though she herself can also make shots at all levels. She also does a nice job defensively.
Aubrey Galvan, 2025, 5-5 PG, Deerfield H.S. (IL)
Aubrey is a talented youngster playing and standing out at the 17U level. She is very quick/fast, feisty, and crafty with the basketball in her hands. She has a lot of “flash” in her game, though she doesn’t force shots, she doesn’t turn it over often, and she is a willing passer who finds teammates in positions for easy scores. She does a nice job breaking down defenders and getting into the heart of the defense. She can finish around the basket with a variety of runners, floaters, and pull-ups, but she also has some range outside.
