EOT Summer Swoosh: Saturday Standouts

With AAU in full summer swing, college coaches from all over the country gathered this weekend at Ladera Sports Center to watch over 150 teams in the EOT Summer Swoosh Tournament. On Saturday I was ab<span style="font-size: 1rem;">le to catc</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">h some games and here are the players that stood out to me.</span> &nbsp; <strong>Sophia Williams – OC Rhythm Blue – Brea Olinda High School 2022</strong> Sophia is what we call in the basketball world “a hooper”. She just knows how to play the right way. Sophia competes on both ends of the floor. She reads the defense, knows when to get into passing lanes, create steals and can push the ball up the floor and score in the open court. She’s also a natural born scorer. When she gets hot there’s not cooling her off. When her team was down in the 2^nd half, she scored 16 straight to bring them back to only lose the game by 1. &nbsp; <strong>Megan Lee – OC Rhythm Blue – Los Alamitos High School 2024</strong> Lee can shoot with the best of them. There wasn’t a shot she took that she thought wouldn’t go in and her confidence spilled over to the crowd. If she missed, we were all shocked. Lee is a competitor, along with Williams keeping their team in the game showing true leadership. &nbsp; <strong>Kayla Hourigan – Starting 5 – Hart High School 2022</strong> Lee is the type of forward/center coaches love to have on their team. She understands her role on the team. She hustles on every play, protecting the rim and grabbing all the rebounds. On offense Lee can finish around the rim with both hands causing headaches for her opponents the entire game. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="162830" first="Kelly" last="Lotz"] – Starting 5- Trinity Classical Academy 2022 Lotz stood out for how gritty she consistent play. She’s a guard that has 1 gear, FAST! Lotz also got to the rim with ease finishing with power and finesse. Her pace created open shots for her teammates and blow by layups for herself. &nbsp; <strong>Bryanna Graham- Socal Hoops Elite- Bonita High School 2022</strong> Graham was one of the most versatile guards in the tournament. She can score at all 3 levels: 3-point, mid-range, and interior. She also competes on defense. Graham’s motor was impressive, playing most of the game. When her team needed a basket, she delivered. &nbsp; <strong>Aanisah Moncrief- Team Skyhawks- Summit High School 2023</strong> Moncrief is a gifted lefty who does it all for her team. Whether playing point guard or forward, Moncrief made her presence known on the court. She uses her long wingspan to create steals and block shots in the paint. Moncrief created havoc in the paint, scoring over or through contact. She is the constant energy source for her team. &nbsp; <strong>Kaylanni Allen- Team Skyhawks- Summit High School 2023</strong> Allen stood out for her intensity and grit all game. She pressured guards full court, plays the passing lanes, and isn’t afraid to get on the floor for loose balls. Allen can also create her own shot and thrives on fast breaks. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
