of Central DeWitt High School switched her commitment to compete at UNI following these next few months. Walker is one of the most efficient players that the State of Iowa has seen over the past 10 years. She is a prospect that can score it on offense at all three levels in any way you would like. Defensively, she makes quick plays on the ball and shows her natural instincts almost every time down the floor in one way or another. I think Walker has a good chance of actually playing during her career with the Panthers. She is smart enough to learn her role early on and that is going to help her compete for minutes at the beginning of her collegiate career.

After what I saw on Tuesday evening in DeWitt, I wouldn’t count out the Sabers to make a run over the next week in Des Moines and if they do that, I’m sure their star

will have a major hand in that. Walker is skilled, patient, and the ideal prospect that any coach would love to work with. She isn’t only a skilled individual, she is a hard worker, one of the first on the ground for a loose ball and she is always willing to sacrifice for the others around her. This really shows out as playing the game the correct way and Walker does that. I can’t say that enough. If everyone happens to show up with her, the 4A Class better watch out.

demonstrated last night as to why she is a Division-1 committed athlete. Walker, a 5’9 PG, is someone that lets her game do the talking out on the floor. In last night contest she finished with a game-high 34+ points on a limited number of shot attempts, while playing the game the right way. She never seemed to force a shot throughout the contest, instead she just made open looks, wherever they might present themselves. Looking back on the contest, Walker didn’t really make a bad choice in general. She led her team by example and it was never really close after the 1st quarter because of that. Whenever the Sabers needed an important play made down the stretch on either end, it was usually Walker stepping up to make things happen and that was impressive to see first hand.

of Central DeWitt High School set the record for the most points scored throughout a high school career at Central DeWitt with 1,463 points and counting. Prior to this record being broken, it was previously held by Lindsay Smith at 1,452. Walker has been a constant for 3.5 years at the Varsity level. She is a crafty guard, that has a twitchy first step and a hard-nosed demeanor. Central DeWitt is in a great spot right now looking toward the Post-season with Walker in charge. If they stay true to their roots, they should be able to make a run, pushing for a spot at the State Tournament in Des Moines.

had her fingerprints all over this game and was really able to show off her scoring prowess. The senior point guard hit multiple contested threes, finished at the rim with strength on both sides of the rim, showed off the handle on a few stepbacks and finished a few post moves. What also impressed me was Lauren’s initiative to crash the boards and continue possessions for her squad. The All-Stater looks ready for a big time senior season.

of Central DeWitt High School has been someone that has brought a lot of interest from college recruiters this past twelve months on the hardwood. She has been looked at by various Divisions and is now she is starting to receive some offers. As of most recent, Walker scored a scholarship to D2 Rockhurst in Illinois. This is her biggest offer to date but I’m sure it won’t be her last. She should be attending some elite camps this Fall, looking for the right fit for her future. If she gets to a campus, falls in love with it, and they offer her, I’m sure she would be extremely interested in the opportunity.

of Central DeWitt. Walker is someone that is very good at making a play for either herself of a fellow teammate. She is someone that can score with the best of them but more-so, she is very good at creating off of the dribble for those around her in any given moment. She maybe putting up big offensive numbers this Spring in the scoring department but that doesn’t take away from her ability to create and distribute. For any of her team’s to be at their best, Walker has to play consistent and fundamental basketball. She needs to take her opponent off the dribble, she needs to find openings for the other teammates, and she needs to make the right choices a majority of the time. All of these things, she has been excelling at the past few months and I hope she continues with this production moving into the future. It’s definitely something that is more than do-able at this point in the season from all of my accounts.

from Central DeWitt High School. Walker is a prospect that keeps it simple and efficient. She has the ability to play on the ball or off at the 2 guard position, depending on what is being asked of her. I’m assuming that this group is going to play a lot of games where they run a dribble drive offense or a 5-0 type of motion. This is the type of offense that Walker could thrive in. She is good at making decisions and when she attacks, she isn’t afraid to facilitate to an open teammate when things open up and that’s what you need from a top-tier guard. I’ve had a lot of collegiate level coaches reach out about Walker with interest over these past six months. If she keeps up the hard work and stays productive, I’m sure that interest is going to grow.

of Central Dewitt isn’t the prospects that is going to blow you away with crazy moves or flashy takes but instead with fundamentals and simple play throughout a contest. Walker keeps it simple and uses whatever advantage her opponent will let her. If they are giving up a certain lane toward the hoop, she will take it. If they are looking to force her to go toward one certain side on the floor, she will do that and create something out of nothing. If her defender sags off of her and lets her step up to shoot, she is going to step up and knock it down with ease. Some of the best and more prepared Guards out there, ready for the next level, take what the defense gives them and they just make the most of their opportunities. That’s the definition of Walker and her play-style. She still has some ways to go but I truly believe that even at this point, Walker could help out a collegiate program in some facet today! So if she were to continue to expand her game over the next year or so, you better watch out because who knows where she could take things.

is the type of player that a coach can trust in. A Point Guard that understands the teammates around her and the objective that her team is trying accomplish throughout each possession of a contest. In the past few months, Walker has proven to me that she could lead a team to success on a varsty/college level floor. She plays with good control of pace and tempo, while being the definition of a facilitator. Defensively, she is a guard that can pick up her matchup in the full court or she can play back and what for her opponent to bring the ball to her. Either way, she usually does a good job of staying in front of her matchup and causing them some havoc while doing so. This winter Central DeWitt will look to Walker to lead their offense. Something that is more then do-able from an outside perspective.
