While others may have taken a little longer to develop or figure some things out. This article will discuss some players that have game and even some college scholarship offers, but they are still flying under the radar.
Kalayna King | Post/Wing | 5’9 | 2022 | Conway High School
Kalayna is a coach’s dream player. She works hard, does what is asked of her, accepts her role, and never complains. Plus, she’s a great teammate. As an undersized post player Kalayna does all the little things to set her apart. She runs the floor well, plays within herself, brings energy and effort, and gives multiple efforts on defense. She handles the ball well enough for her position to get to the rim and she can make the spot-up three-pointer.
Janiyah Tucker Janiyah Tucker 5'4" | PG West Memphis | 2023 State AR | PG | 5’4 | 2023 | West Memphis
Janiyah may be small in size but plays with a big heart. This quick point guard is a good athlete that uses her speed and ball-handling to get into the lane with ease. She’s a crafty finisher that can also make the three-pointer if you leave her open. She pushes it well in transition and often outruns the defense for the easy layup. In the half-court Janiyah plays with a level of toughness that makes her a solid defender, especially on the ball. Her anticipation of the ball with her quick hands makes her a nightmare for the offensive player.
Lillian Jackson Lillian Jackson 6'0" | C Central | 2022 State AR | Post | 6’0 | 2022 | Central High School
Like I said at the beginning of this article, some figure things out early and have a lot of success as a young player. Others take a little more time to develop. Lilian is a player that is starting to figure out her potential and how much talent she has. The 6’0 post/wing player has a nice skillset. She can score from the low block with physicality or finesse. She can attack from the perimeter with a serviceable handle and is steadily improving her three-point shot. As her skill set continues to grow and her confidence reaches an all-time high, she is going to be a handful for opponents this upcoming season.
Daedrianna Cail Daedrianna Cail 6'0" | PF Marion | 2022 State AR | Post | 6’0 | 2022 | Marion High School
Daedrianna is some kind of athlete. Whoever she is on the floor with you can bet she will be one of the best athletes. She has great leaping ability which allows her to block and alter shots. And when she blocks a shot, she really blocks a shot. It almost looks like she’s spiking a volleyball (which is another sport she plays). Overall defensively, Daedrianna is a force. She knows how to use her athletic ability to her advantage. Daedrianna is long, runs the floor extremely well, can finish in transition, guard multiple positions, and can shoot the 3. She can also operate out of the high post with the ability to face up and put the ball on the floor or shoot the turn-around jumper.
Aubrey Evans | Post/Wing | 5’11 | 2023 | Bigelow High School
Aubrey is another good athlete on this list that runs the floor well. Defensively she gives great help and can contest and block shots without fouling. Her slender build doesn’t stop her from rebounding the ball against bigger bodies. When she grabs the defensive rebound she displays the ability to push it in transition and not only take it coast to coast but she can make the right decision. Her soft hands allow her to catch passes in traffic and have a soft touch around the rim.
