Atlanta Summer Slam was loaded with talent at all positions. The Coaches Box allowed me to see up close the talent at the combo/post position. These players showed they can play inside/out. The skill set was off the charts. Here are a few of the standouts.
Faith Acker I 6’2 I C I 2023 I Mavs Elite Thompson
Acker has nice footwork on the block. Runs the floor well and knows how to pin her defender deep for easy shots around the rim. Finishes well through contact and knows how to capitalize at the free throw line. Uses her length to make it tough to score over her.
Irene Kabassubabo I 5’10 I SF I 2022 I FBC Nightmares
Workhorse on both ends of the floor. Undersized post player but knows how to defend in the paint. Crashes the boards hard and knows how to draw fouls which allow her to get to the free line. High Motor.
Shamiya Butler I 6’2 I C I 2022 I Mavs Elite Thompson
Runs rim to rim. Has nice hands around the basket. Shot blocking presence in the paint. Can step out and shoot the mid range jump shot. Knows how to read the defense and kick to the open shooters. Work horse.
[player_tooltip player_id="311564" first="Grace" last="Ridley"] I 5’11 I Combo I 2024 I TN Flight Trotters
Ridley has a nice inside/out game. Uses the screens well to create her shot. Rebounds well. Solid defender. Can finish around the rim and through contact. Shoots the ball extremely well. Hidden gem in North Georgia.
[player_tooltip player_id="311540" first="Aqoyas" last="Cody"] I 5’9 I PF I 2022 I Team Elite Peake
Cody uses her body to score through contact. Watched her get a series of And 1s. Runs the floor well and is always in a position to score. Rebounds well in traffic. Has a nice over the shoulder finish in the paint. Catches the ball and keeps it high.
[player_tooltip player_id="311549" first="Bailey" last="Gilmore"] I 6’3 I PF I 2023 I FBC Nightmares Teal
Stretch 5 that can play all 5 positions. When her defenders clogged the paint she was able to hit the mid range jump shot. Has nice handles. Knows how to push the ball off the rebound. Can step out and shoot the 3 ball. Stock Riser.
[player_tooltip player_id="248345" first="Clare" last="Coyle"] I 6’1 I Combo I 2024 I FBC Nightmares Teal
