Class of 2022 Players with Outstanding Work Ethics

A strong work ethic is a trait of many players in the class of 2022. Here's a look at four of them. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="137279" first="<strong>LeeLee</strong>" last="<strong>Willis</strong>"] is a five-foot-six guard at AZ Compass Prep and also plays for her grassroots team, AZ Supreme. She transferred from Seton Hall Catholic High School in Chandler last year. Playing her freshman and sophomore years at Seton Catholic, LeeLee averaged 9.4 points 4.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.as a freshman. Those numbers were 10.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists as a sophomore. In March of 2020, she was selected as Player of the Game by Max Preps for her performance against Tucson Sahuaro. She contributed eight points and 12 assists in a 70-40 road win for the 4A State Championship. LeeLee just completed a number of tournaments with her club team, AZ Supreme, and is now a senior at AZ Compass Prep, playing a national schedule. She is considered an outstanding guard and defender but is known more for her overall work ethic. She is ready for a breakout senior season. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="214696" first="<strong>Kamariah</strong>" last="<strong>Hawkins</strong>"] is a six-foot forward at Yuma High School. She also plays for her club team, GBL. Yuma finished a disappointing 5-13 last season and 1-9 in their conference. Kamarich averaged 17.5 points per game along with 3.9 assists, 7.6 steals, and an incredible 19.8 rebounds per game. A transfer from Kofa High School where she was also a member of the track and field team, participating in both the 400 meters and 4 x 800-meter relay. Between January and February of last year, Kamariah was selected as Player of the Game a total of six times by Max Preps. In February she had a triple-double against San Luis with 27 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 steals. One scout mentioned that she showed " great poise and leadership throughout the season." Besides being an outstanding defender and rebounder, Kamariah has a tremendous work ethic that should help her play at the next level. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="73480" first="<strong>Talia</strong>" last="<strong>Dial</strong>"] is a five-foot-ten power forward for PHH Prep in El Mirage. She also plays for her grassroots team, Arizona Select. She transferred from Dysart High School last year. As a freshman, she averaged 16.7 points per game and as a sophomore increased that number to 21.6. For her two years at Dysart, she averaged 19.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Talia was selected as the 4A Black Canyon Player of the Year her sophomore year and finished fifth in the state in scoring average. At Dysart, she also played on the volleyball team. She was selected as Player of the Game a total of 18 times by Max Preps during her sophomore year. She then transferred to PHH Prep to begin her junior season and played a national schedule. An outstanding scorer and defender, she also possesses an outstanding work ethic and should be ready for a breakout senior season. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="214586" first="<strong>Nyese"</strong> last="<strong>Jones"</strong>] is a five-foot-four guard for Westwood High School. She also plays for her grassroots team, NWT (Natives With Talent). She is a member of the Pima and Hopi tribes and her club team is coached by her father, Jerry Jones. Last winter the Lady Warriors finished with a 16-4 record and 8-2 in the 6A Conference. Nyese averaged 12.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.8 steals per game. As a freshman, she averaged 9.3 points a game and upped that to 9.6 as a sophomore. Last March, Westwood lost to Dobson High School of Mesa in the state playoffs. In three years, Nyese has played in 75 games for the Lady Warriors and assessed close to 800 points. During her senior season, she should reach the 1,000 point barrier. From November 2018 to February 2021, she was selected by Max Preps as Player of the Game a total of 14 times. Coach Jones had this to say about his daughter. "Nyese plays the game with so much passion. She is truly one of the best two-way players I’ve seen and coached in a very long time. She has a great energy level and is a fierce competitor, with a strong work ethic." She has also maintained a 3.0 GPA.
