The July eval period has concluded, we look around the state in volume 20 of the Florida round up to see what has been going on throughout August.
COACHING CHANGES
A pair of Florida’s top prep coaches joined the coaching ranks this month. Former Northeast and Coconut Creek High School Head Coach Brittney Scott accepted an Assistant Coaching position with FAMU and Head Coach Shallow Pillow. In addition to coaching high school, Scott has been a travel ball coach with several organizations including the last few years with the Miami Suns serving as the 15U EYBL Miami Suns Team Kiki Head Coach this past summer. Scott is known for being a high energy coach who is excellent with skill development and pulling the most out of her players and coaches. She makes an excellent addition to the FAMU staff and I am sure you will see her in a gym sometime soon on the hunt for some Rattlers!
In addition to Scott, Charlsea Clark also joined the coaching ranks this month, stepping down as Head Coach at Bishop Kenny and joining the University of North Florida coaching staff as an Assistant Coach. Serving as the Head Coach of Bishop Kenny from 2015-2021 as well as Director / Owner of Clark Basketball Academy from 2016-2021, Clark was the FACA 4A Coach of the Year in 2021, the FACA 6A Coach of the Year in 2017-18, the Next Level Sports 2018-19 Coach of the Year, has had five players sign to play college basketball, coached 5 all area players and one 4A Player of the Year, and built Bishop Kenny into one of the state’s top high school programs. Clark was a three-year starter and captain at Flagler College and returns to UNF after service as Director of Basketball Operations from 2013-15.
