The class of 2022 has many rising stars. Here is a look at some of them: [player_tooltip player_id="73478" first="Mackenzie" last="Shivers"] is a five-foot-four point guard/shooting guard for Mesa High School and also plays for her club team, Arizona Elite 17U. The Jackrabbits finished with a 13-5 record last March and 8-2 in the 6A East Valley Conference. She averaged 15.3 points per game along with 5.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.2 steals. She also shot 49% from the floor. In the state tournament, Mesa lost to Xavier Prep, 40-30, although Mackenzie chipped in with 22 points. In three years at Mesa, she has played in a total of 70 games and averaging 16.2 per contest. Her assists and steals per game have increased every season. She has already eclipsed the 1,000 point mark. Mackenzie considers herself a vocal leader on and off the court and loves to guard the best player on the opposing team. She led the team from an 0-10 conference record as a freshman to an 8-2 mark last year. Playing for Head Coach Katie Fonseca, she was voted Top Performer of the Week for last February 15-20. Her assist to turnover ratio was an impressive 1.58 and she maintains a 3.95 GPA. A rising star, her goal, as a senior, is to bring home a state championship. [player_tooltip player_id="114259" first="Lilah" last="Moore"] is a five-foot-ten combination guard for Arizona Elite Prep. She also plays for her grassroots team, Arizona Elite. A transfer after her sophomore year at Pinnacle High School, she played a national schedule for AEP this past season. She is considered one of the state’s best ball handlers and recently committed to the University of Northern Colorado. This past season she averaged 11.3 points per game while shooting 34% from beyond the arch and 83% from the foul line. At Pinnacle, she appeared in 77 basketball games and was also a member of the Pinnacle track and field team. This summer she played in a number of tournaments as a member of Arizona Elite. One scout had this to say about Lilah’s game. "She’s a crafty guard, deceptive, has a great change of pace, and can create her own shot and for others as well. She can shoot from long range and possesses good perimeter size and strength. She is a great athlete and versatile offensive player." Another rising star, she should have an outstanding senior season. [player_tooltip player_id="259102" first="Kishyah" last="Anderson"] is a five-foot-ten power forward for Mountain Pointe High School. She also plays for her club team, 602 Lady Nation. The Lady Pride finished 16-8 overall and 9-1 in their conference in 2020. Kishyah averaged 8.4 points per game as a freshman and 13.3 as a sophomore. Mountain Pointe lost to state champion Valley Vista in the 2020 state playoffs, 53-40. She was selected to the second team All-Conference as a sophomore and also plays on the Lady Pride softball team. Playing for Head Coach Rehema Stephens, a scout had this to say about Kishyah’s game. "She is an excellent finisher with quick feet. She also has an offensive arsenal and is a very intense defender and rebounder. She is also a good inside shooter but can also hit the three-point shot." Another rising star for 2022, she should have a monstrous senior year. [player_tooltip player_id="214585" first="Charlotte" last="Kelmon"] is a five-foot-eleven power forward for Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale. She also plays for her grassroots team, BSP. The Saints finished 16-3 overall last year and won the 4A West Valley Region with a 9-1 mark. Charlotte averaged 12.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game last season and hit on 42% of her three-pointers. ND Prep lost in the state tournament last March to Mesquite, 36-32. She was named All-Region First Team and led all juniors in total three-pointers. As a sophomore, she averaged 8.3 points per game and for her career - 37 games - she is averaging 10.2 points per contest. In one game last season, Charlotte scored 25 points with five three-pointers in a 66-22 win over Marcos de Nizer. One scout said, "she is efficient and a high-volume shooter and considered one of the top wings in the state for the class of 2022." Charlotte moved from Northern California to Phoenix in the fall of 2019. Another rising star, she should be ready for a tremendous senior season.
