PGH NJ 2022 Prospects No. 35-37

Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey has been hard at work to deliver you content for the upcoming high school girls basketball season, which is coming up sooner than you think. With the calendar already in October, the season is around a month away, so previews and predictions have already started for many. In this article, we’ll be continuing to look at our PGH NJ rankings, going to the 2022 class to look at the No. 35-37 seniors in the state as ranked by our PGH NJ team. No. 35: [player_tooltip player_id="319335" first="Katie" last="Fricker"] - SG, Cherokee Fricker has been the glue that has kept Cherokee together the past few seasons and now going into her senior year, this her time to shine in a big way for the Chiefs. We’ve come to know this shooting guard as someone who can really shoot the ball well from the perimeter, but what has gotten overshadowed is her overall playmaking ability. She can get into the lane well, pick her spots on the court to shoot from, or find an open teammate for a shot. Fricker is going to have an increased leadership role on the team this winter, so keep an eye on how she steps up to the challenge. No. 36: [player_tooltip player_id="319336" first="Angelina" last="Barrera"] - 6-0 PF, Gloucester Catholic Barrera is one of the most exciting prospects on this list, a 6-0 forward who dominated the paint this season for Gloucester Catholic, averaging 15.3 PPG this spring. We’ve seen her development and growth in front of our own eyes over the past three years as she put up career-high numbers as a junior and averaged double figures in scoring for the first time. She’s shown that she’s a fantastic scorer, but the key to her success in her senior season is an added emphasis on her defense. Barrera has been hard at work on her defense during the AAU season in the summer, so expectations are starting high. No. 37: Gina Gaccione - 5-10 SG, Immaculate Heart Gaccione stepped up in a big way for Immaculate Heart in the spring, leading the team in scoring and hitting three-pointers at a clip not seen before in her career. She averaged 11.5 PPG and 1.7 made threes in the shortened season, an incredibly encouraging sign as she’s put in the work tirelessly over the past several seasons. This summer especially with NJ Freedom, Gaccione elevated herself to a new level that has gotten the attention of many. This upcoming senior season for Gaccione is incredibly crucial as IHA looks to keep up its dominance in the Big North Conference. Continued and sustained success is the key to her success on the floor, so keep an eye out for that this winter.
