The 2023 Washington rankings have been updated and feature lots of new players in the rankings, taking the list to 60+. In a multi-part series, we will dive into many of the new prospects that are now listed in the PGH Washington 2023 rankings.
Kicking things off with one of the top new prospects listed in the rankings is Curtis High School’s [player_tooltip player_id="332489" first="Peyton" last="Akins"]. The 5’7 point guard is a strong athlete and can make plays on both sides of the ball. She listed an offer from North Carolina A&T State a year ago.
Another top new prospect is Deer Park High School’s [player_tooltip player_id="304002" first="Darian" last="Herring"]. The 6’0 wing/forward is a strong, quality athlete and plays an unselfish style of ball, but is capable of getting her own too. She is from a small school in the Spokane area, but she has some game.
5’10 power forward [player_tooltip player_id="317121" first="Nayella" last="George"] of Kamiak High Schhol is a physical, strong and tough post presence that also runs the floor well. George can defend multiple positions and she rebounds well for the reasons mentioned a sentence before. A college program at the right level could find themselves a steal.
Mount Si High School has quietly been producing some college level talent and an under the radar player is 5’9 shooting guard, [player_tooltip player_id="317689" first="Grace" last="Turley"]. She showed up and showed out well at the PGH WA Summer Showcase. She has a quality skill set, great attitude and can score from multiple levels. A sleeper in the 2023 to know.
Lastly for part one of newly added players in the rankings is 5’8 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id="318800" first="Ava" last="Uusitalo"]. Another prospect that played so well at the Summer Showcase. I enjoy watching her aggressive style of play and how she looks to make plays on both sides of the ball. She is new to the rankings, but could also be listed as a top sleeper in the 2023 class.
