#6) Mason Co: Lead by new Head Coach Kevin Bundy the lady royals look improve their 14-10 record from last season. Mason lost two of their top scorers in Rachel Payn and Mylin Henry to graduation. Payne averaged 14 ppg last season, while Henry averaged 8.4. However, the Royals senior forward Hannah Adkins returns hoping to have a strong senior season. Adkins averaged 9.2 ppg and 4.2 rebounds as a junior. Macey Littleton, a junior chipped in a solid 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game last season. Coach Bundy has a slew of underclassman that are looking to make their mark as the season progresses.
#7) Harrison Co: Coach Kimberly Marshall and her Fillies struggled to get games in last season. They finished with a record of 9-7 but had 8 games cancelled due to Covid-19. As this new season begins, Coach Marshall will rely heavily on seniors Gabrielle Hatterick and Kara Hines. Hatterick a guard averaged 12.2 ppg and 2.8 rebounds last season. While Hines added 9.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. The fillies will miss the scoring of Trenyce Kenney and Elizabeth Allison from last year, as the two combined for around 22 points per game and 13 rebounds. Coach Marshalls teams always play hard, so look for them to bounce back from a frustrating season last year.
#8) Nicholas Co: Veteran coach Greg Letcher brings back a solid group of upperclassmen. Seniors Melanie Hatton and Jada Clever, along with junior Amberlee Hedges look to lead the Lady Jackets to a successful 21-22 season. The senior, forward Hatton, lead her team last season with 10.3 ppg and 5.7 rebounds. She was followed closely by her senior counterpart Jada Clever who put up 9.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Junior Amberlee Hedges also was one of the top four scores for the Lady Jackets averaging 6.6 ppg and 2.3 rebounds. Look for Nicholas County to make huge improvements on their 9-14 record from last season.
#9) Paris: The Lady Hounds, coached by the experienced Coach Aaron Speaks saw their hard work over the years pay off last season. A huge 18pt. win over district and region foe George Rogers Clark in the first game of the season got them off to a good start. They did, however lose a solid group of players to graduation last season. A couple of those seniors who were top performers for Speaks were Zoe Strings Zoe Strings 5'6" | SG Paris | 2021 State KY and Chez Tye. Both players were very consistent throughout their careers. Strings last season lead her team with 12.9 ppg and 6.6 rebounds. Chez Tye followed closely with 11.2 ppg and 2.7 rebounds. With that being said, Paris does return two talented Juniors in Sanaa Jackson Sanaa Jackson 5'7" | SF Paris | 2023 State KY and Jamie Cowan Jamie Cowan 5'11" | PF Paris | 2023 State KY . Both bring experience and production with Jackson averaging 11.7 ppg and 3.2 rebounds and Cowan finishing at 9.3 points and a team leading 7.8 rebounds.
#10) Saint Patrick: Coach Andrew Arn brings back a group of veteran players this season and will look to build on their 11-15 record from last season. The Lady Saints return their top four scorers and they are all juniors. Allison Hughes (17.6 ppg, 5.7 reb), Caroline Mckay (9.0 ppg, 2.3 reb), Makenna Roush (6.2 ppg, 3.6 reb), and finally Isabella Riggs (6.6 ppg, 6.8 reb). Those are good numbers and a lot of experience coming back for Coach Arn and St. Pat.
A couple of these teams may make their way into the top tier of the rankings before the season ends.
