Is Florida’s Class of 2022 the Best in the Country?

The class of 2022 updated rankings were released today. We ask the question, is Florida’s class of 2022 the best in the country?? Let’s take a look.
As of release of this article, twenty-seven of the class of 2022’s top forty players have signed division one scholarships. Accounting for upcoming conference changes by UCF and North Florida, the class of 2022 has four players heading to the SEC, three players headed to the ACC, two the Pac-12, five to the Big 12, one to the Big 10, two to the A-10, one to the Colonial, three to the A-Sun, two to C-USA, two to the Metro Atlantic, and one to the Mountain West. Furthermore, an additional ten more players in the top 80 are signed to go D1, D2, D3, NAIA, or Junior College.
Already an extremely strong class headlined by Janiah Barker, Tonie Morgan, Kailyn Gilbert, Nyla Harris and others, the class got even stronger with Grace VanSlooten and Ta’Niya Latson transferring in for their Senior seasons.
Janiah Barker, Grace VanSlooten, Ta’Niya Latson, Tonie Morgan, Nyla Harris, and Savannah Henderson are all ranked in the Top 75 in the Class of 2022 Prep Girls Hoops National Rankings. While Janiah Barker, Grace VanSlooten, Ta’Niya Latson, Tonie Morgan, Kailyn Gilbert, Nyla Harris, Savannah Henderson, Sydney Shaw, Kyla Abraham, Amiya Evans, and Jordana Codio are all ranked in the Top 100 by ESPNW Hoop Gurls Rankings accounting for more than 10% of the class of 2022.
California, Texas, Ohio, and Minnesota are the only state with 6 or more players ranked in the Top 75 or Top 100 of either ranking. California has 8 players ranked in the Top 100 in the ESPNW Hoop Gurls Rankings and 3 in the Top 75 in the Prep Girls Hoops National Rankings (Isuneh Brady, Gabriela Jaquez, Londynn Jones, Hannah Stines, Amaya Bonner, Elle Ladine, and Amaya Bonner). Minnesota has 5 players ranked in the Top 100 in the ESPNW Hoop Gurls Rankings and 8 in the Top 75 in the Prep Girls Hoops National Rankings (Maya Nnaji, Amaya Battle, Mallory Heyer, Mara Braun, Lilly Meister, Nia Holloway, Callin Hake, Ellie Buzzelle).
Texas has 7 ranked in the Top 100 in the ESPNW Hoop Gurls Rankings and 2 in the Top 75 in the Prep Girls Hoops National Rankings (Ashlon Jackson, Carleigh Wenzel, Christeen Iwuala, Bailey Maupin, Sa’Myah Smith, Amina Muhammad). Indiana has 5 players in both rankings (Ayanna Patterson, Alyssa Crockett, Mila Reynolds, Kate Clarke, Lolly Stoddard) as well as Michigan (Ruby Whitehorn, Mya Petticord, Theryn Hallock, Rakiyah Bela, Abbey Kimball).
Ohio features 5 Top 100 in the ESPNW Hoop Gurls Rankings and 6 in the Top 75 in the Prep Girls Hoops National Rankings (KK Bransford, Alexia Mobley, Chance Gray, Cotie McMahaon, Kyla Oldacre) while Georgia features 4 in the Top 100 in the ESPNW Hoop Gurls Rankings and 5 in the Top 75 in the Prep Girls Hoops National Rankings (Kara Dunn, Lazaria Spearman, Paris Miller).
Taking a look at the overall rankings, the Top 10, Top 25, and overall depth, although biased, I think it is safe to say Florida’s Class of 2022 is the Number One Class in the country!
