The high school hoops season is finally here, and so is the Prep Girls Hoops Winter Rankings Update! After a fun and competitive fall season, a few members of the ’22 class really impressed me and cracked my rankings. Below are some prospects who came on my radar the last couple of months and will be players to watch this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="326879" first="Samantha" last="Rogala"] - Norwood - 5’6’’ - PG
‘22 Rank: #132
In early October, Rogala committed to Nichols College, which is a good pick-up for Coach Dan Nagle. Rogala is a tough point guard who can space the floor with efficient outside shooting. Due to Rogala’s slashing ability, she can slide over and be valuable at the 2. Rogala is an excellent passer. Her post entry passes are accurate and on time, and she is a dynamic playmaker in the open court. It will be fun to watch her and Vilanova Commit, [player_tooltip player_id="183929" first="Megan" last="Olbrys"], this Winter at Norwood.

[player_tooltip player_id="345288" first="Nasha" last="Arnold"] - Bishop Fenwick - 6’0’’ - PF/SF
’22 Rank: #63
I saw Arnold a few times during the Merrimack Valley Fall Ball League, and she was a force down low. She uses her strength well to muscle forwards around the basket and gets position for rebounds. Arnold is also a reliable scorer on the block who has solid footwork and a post-move repertoire that is hard to defend. Arnold can step outside and be a deadly spot-up shooter and runs the floor well in transition. I think she will have a monster season for Bishop Fenwick.

’22 Rank: #71
I got my first glimpse of Moyer at the Connecticut Top 30 Showcase. She can light up the scoreboard with efficient scoring at all three levels. When Moyer gets into a rhythm, she will put up points in bunches and knock down shots from all over the court. Her three-point shooting was most impressive. Moyer’s ability to knockdown off-dribble and transition perimeter shots frequently made her stand out.

[player_tooltip player_id="295238" first="Faith" last="Greene"] - Bradford Christian Academy - 5’10’’ - PF
‘22 Rank: #103
This winter, Greene’s defense and intensity will be essential for Bradford Christian Academy, and all fall Greene proved how well she could protect the paint. BCA has enough scoring on the perimeter, which makes Greene a perfect compliment for the team. With her tenacious rebounding, putback ability, and shot-blocking, I look for Greene to have a very impactful senior season.
[player_tooltip player_id="356874" first="Hannah" last="Blake"] - Foxboro - 5’10’’ - PF
’22 Rank: #133
Blake is undersized for the 4 spot but has a quick first and second jump that makes her a factor on the glass and inside. I’m impressed by Blake’s post-footwork and how under control she is when catching the ball with her back to the basket. Blake’s mid-range game is very smooth too. She has great elevation on her jump shot and consistently knocks down shots from 15 feet.

[player_tooltip player_id="358742" first="Sarang" last="West"] - Choate - 5’7’’ - PG
’22 Rank: #52
West is one of the ’22 class best-kept secrets in the region now that she has transferred to Choate for this season. I saw the high motor point guard this past week at practice and really liked her skill set. She is a confident mid-long range shooter with a rapid-fire release, a strong finisher, and has a high IQ. It is fun to watch West play off the ball because she makes aggressive cuts and is an explosive and dynamic scorer when coming off of screens.
