Let’s look at some prospects cracking the rankings for the first time. [player_tooltip player_id="342247" first="Tegan" last="Young"] - Lawrence Academy - 6’1’’ - SG ‘23 Rank: #10 I saw Young play one weekend this fall, and that was enough for me to know she is a top 10 prospect. Young dominated on the wing, getting to the paint constantly and scoring at will. She has an unstoppable spin move, excellent footwork, and finishing ability. Her IQ is off the charts, too. Young reads the defense well and is a threat off the ball with hard cuts and great hands when catching passes in traffic. She can handle the ball, shoot from the perimeter, and runs the floor well. She is a legitimate 6’1’’ shooting guard making Young the ultimate matchup nightmare. [player_tooltip player_id="328970" first="Maddie" last="Parks"] - Lexington - 5’8’’ - CG ’23 Rank: #63 This past fall, I was introduced to Parks and liked how well she facilitated the offense. She is an excellent penetrate and kick point guard whose unselfishness does not go unnoticed. Parks does a good job recognizing when to be assertive on offense and create a shot for herself and when to defer to her teammates. I like how Parks pushes the ball in transition. She controls the tempo and scans the floor beautifully. Her slashing and court vision combination is special and can elevate her stock even more with a consistent outside shot this winter. [player_tooltip player_id="184055" first="Kameron" last="St. Pierre"] - Taunton - 5’8’’ - SG ’23 Rank: #82 St. Pierre is one of the few prospects in the rankings I have not seen play in person, but her skill set is so unique and dynamic that it’d be foolish not to find a home for her on this list. Her shot-creation and shot-making ability are unlike many guards in her class. She easily has the most shooting range and is a threat to launch once crossing halfcourt. Most impressively, St. Pierre can hit these long bombs off the dribble. I watched a lot of film on St. Pierre, and it is hard not to conclude that she is one of the hardest working guards in her class. You can tell that from how she moves, her shooting acumen, and off-hand playmaking ability. St. Pierre is someone who I absolutely must watch this winter. [caption id="attachment_360017" align="alignnone" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id="321288" first="Erica" last="Lendall"][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="359058" first="Maggie" last="McKitchen"] - St. Mary Academy Bayview - 5’10’’ SG ’23 Rank: #114 McKitchen has great size for her position and can impact the game in multiple ways. At the Team New England Girls Prep Showcase, I noticed how big of a factor McKitchen was on defense. She slides her feet well and is a good shot-blocking guard. During the 1v1 drills, McKitchen was one of the few prospects who showed the discipline to play strong, aggressive, and effective defense without fouling. [player_tooltip player_id="328966" first="Sophie" last="Hilbrunner"] - Waltham - 5’10’’ - PF ‘23 Rank: #129 Hilbrunner is a solid inside-out forward who is a major threat in the post. Not your typical 6’0’’+ post player, but Hilbrunner plays like she is that size. She seals her defender hard on the block and has the upper body strength to score through contact. Hilbrunner is vocal and demands the ball when she gets to her scoring spots. I also like her face-up game. Hilbrunner will catch, rip and attack the basket hard and make defenders pay by burying the mid-range jumper if given the space.
