On Tuesday, Fairfield Central ran its record to 3-0 as the Griffins defeated Eau Claire by a final score of 69-38. All three games the Griffins have played so far on the young season have been at home. Later this week, Fairfield Central will encounter its first road test when they head to Columbia to take on these same Shamrocks. The Griffins may have won, but the 38 points given up to the Shamrocks is the most they have allowed so far in 2021-22. Prep Girls Hoops made it out to Winnsboro for the mid-week matchup. Here is a look at who showed out for both teams. [player_tooltip player_id="276129" first="Jordyn" last="Adams"] – 2025 – Fairfield Central HS – With the winning ways the Fairfield Central girls basketball program has experienced as of late, with young up-and-comers such as Adams sporting Griffins colors, it is expected that will continue. One has to watch out for her on defense as much as one has to look out for her on the offensive side. Adams, while talented, also can get creative with her shot selection as well as with her passing. As gifted as she is with her ability to attack the rim, Adams can also take and make her 3-point attempts. She was the leading scorer for the Griffins with 19 points. Destinee Tiller – 2025 – Eau Claire HS – Tiller proved to be a bright spot for the Shamrocks on what was mostly a down night at the office for the team sporting green and orange. Early on – she had an assist which led to the first points of the game for the Shamrocks and gave Eau Claire an early 2-0 lead. Tiller’s game includes a midrange jump shot, being very quick to the rim and her knack for getting a hand or two on the ball to disrupt an opponent’s passing lanes. She will also play the classic floor general role in setting up an offense in the halfcourt. Tiller concluded her evening with 11 points. [player_tooltip player_id="331898" first="De’Asia" last="Feaster"] – 2022 – Fairfield Central HS – It was not long ago when Feaster announced that she received an offer to play collegiately at Columbia College. If she stays in the Midlands to play in college is yet to be seen. As for now, she displays that she is an unselfish player, remains active on the defensive side of the ball and has a knack to attack the rim. Feaster will also display that she will shoot the 3-point shot and make her tries from behind the arc. Feaster scored 18 points and drained four of her shots from downtown. She had at least one made 3-pointer in every quarter outside of the fourth. Shakira Jackson – 2022 – Eau Claire HS – The Shamrocks’ starters really carried the bulk of the scoring efforts on Tuesday night – including Jackson. In spite of the lopsided result in favor of the Griffins, she played a huge role in the fourth quarter in outscoring Fairfield Central 18-12 in the final frame. Jackson assisted on double teams, attacked the rim, absorbed contact which put her at the free throw line and took her chances with shooting 3-pointers. Jackson finished the game with a seven-point effort, but six of those seven occurred in the fourth quarter of play. Her other point, of course, was a made free throw in the first quarter. [player_tooltip player_id="324559" first="Jazzlyn" last="McMillan"] – 2027 – Fairfield Central HS – McMillan is one of many examples throughout South Carolina of simply how strong the Palmetto State’s youth movement is in girls basketball. One would think she is a upperclassman with the high basketball IQ that she plays with. McMillan had herself a game from 3-point range. All nine of her points came by way of the trey and she had the second-most threes made in the game for the Griffins (only [player_tooltip player_id="331898" first="De’Asia" last="Feaster"] had more). Two of McMillan’s were in the second quarter, and another was in the third frame. She is just getting started. Jermyra Bethel – 2024 – Eau Claire HS – Even with points coming at a premium team-wise for the Shamrocks, Bethel managed to score early and often. Bethel tallied at least one basket for Eau Claire in every quarter outside of the third frame. She played tough interior defense, gets ready to box out and rebound in case of free throw misses and will block shots. Bethel displayed impressive ball movement an ability to attack the rim and contributed all-around hustle by diving for 50-50 balls. She showcased how fearless she with a willingness to shoot over larger defenders, absorbed contact and got to the free throw line and let everyone know how confident she is in calling for the ball. Bethel scored 14 points – including 10 in the first half.
