[player_tooltip player_id="370476" first="Yamiya" last="Wilson"] – 2022 – Williston-Elko HS – Her name may appear near the bottom of many an alphabetical chart, but Wilson is at the top of her game in her senior season. She will shoot and drain 3-pointers as she did a couple of times in the Blue Devils’ game against Estill on Monday morning. Wilson will also draw contact and find her way to the free throw line where she can make her tries from the stripe. She certainly gives a team hustle, defensive prowess, assistance on double teams, footwork and speed. Wilson led Williston-Elko scorers with 18 points vs. the Gators.
[player_tooltip player_id="171760" first="Shia" last="Kinard"] – 2022 – Wade Hampton HS – The aspiration of every senior is to finish their high school career with a fascinating flourish. Kinard is well on her way to doing that. She was an integral part in the Red Devils’ scoring charge in the team’s game against Ridge Spring-Monetta. Kinard can make accurate passes to her teammates and some of those can even be cross court. She puts in the defensive work, is effective in the transition game as a distributor and scorer, and collects a good deal of steals. Kinard’s offensive prowess also includes the ability to hit her shots from the free throw line.
She finished with 16 points tonight against Ridge Spring-Monetta
Simone Charlton – 2022 – Barnwell HS – Charlton, in what was a commanding win for the Warhorses over Allendale-Fairfax, led the Warhorses with 12 points (10 of which came in the second half), but also contributed in ways that go beyond the scoresheet. Charlton helped out on double teams, went after 50-50 balls and showcased how well she can run the floor in the transition game. If she gets fouled, she is likely to make her attempts at the free throw line. Charlton causes many a problem for teams as a defender as she is a consistent threat to steal the ball and create extra possessions for Barnwell.
[player_tooltip player_id="175311" first="Meleah" last="Jones"] – 2022 – Ridge Spring-Monetta HS – Jones’ offensive skillset includes a midrange jump shot, running point at the one or two and getting out in transition. She will also shoot 3-point jumpers. Jones can come from seemingly out of nowhere to come up with big defensive plays and will make her free throw attempts on the heels of being fouled.
Meleah finished with 8 points tonight in the loss.
