The Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational established in 2016 presented by Florida’s Sports Coast hosted one of the largest high school events in Florida last week in Wesley Chapel at the Wiregrass Sports Complex. The event hosted over 100 Varsity Girls and Boys teams from December 29-January 1 from all across the country including a number of the Florida’s top teams. We take a look at part two of some of the class of 2023s top performers.
Alancia Ramsey Alancia Ramsey 6'0" | PF St Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL (St. Thomas Aquinas) – 6’0 Forward
Ramsey is always one of my favorite players to watch. The St. Thomas Aquinas v Central Pointe matchup was particularly fun to watch as Ramsey went head to head against USF signee, Daniela Gonzalez Daniela Gonzalez 6'0" | SF Central Pointe Academy | 2022 State FL . The two forwards engaged in an extremely physical battle for the entire 32 minutes, mixing it up in the paint and on the perimeter. Ramsey fills up the stat sheet with points and rebounds, as she consistently ends up with double digit points and rebounds. Ramsey played a big role in STA being ranked as one of the top teams in the state and a runner-up finish at the TB Invitational.
Reina Green Reina Green 5'10" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL (St. Thomas Aquinas) – 5’9 Guard
Green has a breakout spring/summer and continues to impress college scouts with her impressive body, big time vertical, athleticism, and ability to make the open 3-pointer. Green plays multiple positions for STA and is an excellent rebounder from the guard spot and has 1-2 jaw dropping moments per game when she is way up at the rim!
Chloe Kitts Chloe Kitts 6'2" | SF Faith Christian Academy | 2022 FL (DME Academy) – 6’2 Wing
Chloe followed up her MVP performance at the United Bank Holiday Invitational with stellar play at the Tampa Bay Invitational. There is not much Kitts cannot do on the floor as she is long, skilled, and highly efficient. She is impressive on the offensive end of the floor, taking defensive rebounds to start the fast break, knocking down open shots, as well as attack off the dribble.
Janessa Williams Janessa Williams 5'10" | SF King’s Academy | 2023 State FL (Kings Academy) – 5’10 Guard / Wing
Williams is an athletic guard/wing who plays hard from tip off to the last whistle. Her motor and energy are a joy to watch as a fan and infectious to her teammates, as she sets the defensive tone for her teammates. She relentlessly pursues rebounds on both ends of the floor and runs the floor hard in transition. She has a super high motor and does not take a play off!
Tyra Brown Tyra Brown 6'2" | SF Fort Myers | 2023 State FL (Fort Myers) – 6’2 Wing
Brown is a long, athletic wing/forward with a versatile skill set. Brown, like Kitts is capable of starting fast break after rebounds and uses her length well on defense. Having been injured the last couple times I have seen her play, Brown looks to be back to 100%. She was aggressive on both the offensive and defensive boards and shot the ball well from mid-range and the high post.
