Five North v South Showcase Standouts

Sunday’s game slate in New Jersey was dominated by the North v South Showcase, so here are five players who stood out amongst the five games that were played. [player_tooltip player_id="321570" first="Rosie" last="Scognamiglio"] - St. Rose Scognamiglio took over a game in which St. Rose trailed 24-12 at halftime, scoring nine of her game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter to help the Purple Roses pull off a 39-36 comeback win. Not to be overlooked, but her seven steals tied a career-high. The 5-9 sophomore guard has been nothing short of excellent this season for St. Rose and continues to impress Riley Allen - Chatham Allen was the spark plug that got Chatham off to such a hot start against St. Rose as she recorded her second double-double of the season, a 14-point, 12-rebound performance against one of the best teams in the state. Allen is coming into her own as a sophomore and her three-point shooting already puts her in the conversation as one of the most underrated in the NJAC. [player_tooltip player_id="155444" first="Brynn" last="McCurry"] - Sparta Sparta came up short against a high-powered Manasquan team, but McCurry had no issues carving up her opponent, recording her fourth-straight 20-point double-double to begin the season, a 20-point, 10-rebound game. Her passing is arguably more impressive than her scoring and rebounding, tallying another five assists on Sunday as she’s averaging 5.3 APG this season. She’s a versatile player with even more room to grow in her game. Katie Gorski - Montville Gorski had a career night in the middle with five blocks, along with 15 points, eight rebounds and three made three-pointers in a loss to Donovan Catholic. She’s been a major factor on both sides of the ball so far for Montville and this junior season has been her breakout year. Through five games, Gorski is averaging 13.4 PPG and 7.0 RPG, looking more confident by the day. Jasmine Miller - New Providence Miller missed the first three games of the season, but has really stepped up the last four and is quickly emerging into a great forward talent for this team. Her eight points, 12 rebounds and four steals made a big difference in a 47-33 win over Hudson Catholic. We’ve already seen great growth from her as she’s averaging 8.8 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 1.5 SPG and made three-pointers a game now in her sophomore year.
