The 2022 New Year’s Classic was held in Miami this past weekend at SLAM! Academy. Early in the week we wrote about some of the events top 3-pointer shooters. While they were not the only ones knocking it down from the outside. Here are a couple more of the events top outside shooters in part two.
[player_tooltip player_id="265967" first="Brooke" last="Carlson"] (Batavia HS – IL) – 5’5 Guard – Class of 2024
Simply put Carlson was awesome all weekend in all aspects. She scored a game high 29 points and knocked down two 3-pointers in Batavia’s opening game vs St. Thomas Aquinas. It was an impressive performance by the Sophomore guard who scored in multiple ways and did everything she did to keep Batavia in the game! What impressed me the most, was Carlson’s ability to shoot off the dribble going both left and right. She created space from her defenders with a deadly step back and a variety of combo moves. All in all, it was an impressive performance that left the crowd ohh’ing and ahh’ing throughout the game!
[player_tooltip player_id="248417" first="Sophia" last="Kateris"] (Kings Academy) – 5’10 Wing – Class of 2025
Kateris is a big wing, with a sweet 3-point stroke and a high release. She is shooting an impressive 40% from 3 and 2/3 from long range, leading the team with 11 points in Kings Academy 56-42 loss to SLAM! Academy. Kateris did a little bit of everything as her game is not just outside shooting, she grabbed five rebounds, and snatched three steals as well. At times, she is too unselfish and should look for more scoring opportunities.

Robles has been getting it done for Doral all season, leading the team in scoring at 16 points per game, as well as the team’s top 3-point shooter. She is shooting 41% from 3 and is averaging two made 3-pointers per game, as she is 35/85 on the season. The 5’1 guard knocked down two 3-pointers in Doral’s win over Nova High School on her way to game high 16 points and helping her team to a 58-32 win.
Sam Bautista (SLAM! Academy) – 5’6 Guard – Class of 2025
Bautista had a big weekend and has been steady for SLAM! all season. Bautista knocked down two 3-pointers vs Western helping them to a big 52-51 win! She is the team’s top 3-point threat shooting 38% from 3 and averaging one made 3-pointer per game!
[player_tooltip player_id="91642" first="Kristina" last="Godfrey"] (Miami Country Day) – 5’9 Guard – Class of 2023
Godfrey knocked down two 3-pointers on her way to dropping 16 points in Miami Country Day 64-37 win over Batavia High School. She handled most of the team’s ball handling duties, balancing distributing the ball and finding scoring opportunities for herself. She has a smooth stroke with a quick release and a nice follow through. She shoots a high percentage both off the catch and off the dribble and was instrumental in MCDS win!
Ana Sophia Sanchez (Lourdes Academy) – 5’4 Guard – Class of 2023
Sanchez is a 5’4 Junior Guard who shoots close to six 3-pointers per game. She made two of them in Lourdes 44-38 loss to Somerset Academy Silver Palms. She is the team’s third leading scorer on the season averaging 9.8 points per game and will let it fly from anywhere on the court!

Mateo made two 3-pointers in Somerset Academy Silver Palms 44-38 win over Lourdes Academy. The Senior is headed to Fredonia State and is averaging one made 3-pointer per game. She has deep range, several feet beyond the 3-point game and can break a game wide open when she gets hot from outside!
[player_tooltip player_id="248693" first="Riley" last="Stoker"] (Western High School) – 5’10 Wing – Class of 2025
Stoker is a big guard / wing who is an excellent 3-point shooter. She scored ten points in Western’s back and forth battle vs SLAM! Academy, knocking down two 3-pointers. She can really helps Western space the floor and has proven to be a reliable outside threat all season!
