Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey was able to attend a few of the games during the nightcap and we witnessed some fantastic basketball. Be sure to follow us on Twitter @PGHNewJersey to see that content live, but with that being said, here are some more standouts from Saturday’s showcase.
Adriana Agosto Adriana Agosto 5'7" | SG Rancocas Valley | 2022 State NJ (Sr.) – 5-7 PG/SG, Rancocas Valley
Agosto is an exciting guard who is having the best season of her career as a senior, scoring at will and completely taking over and shutting down opponents. While Agosto has been an excellent three-point shooter her entire career, especially this year and last season, she’s found ways to score inside the perimeter much more often while still shooting the three at an exceptional rate. It’s allowed Agosto to be more versatile on the floor and attack the rim in different ways to throw off oppponents, which she’s done a fantastic job at.
Gabby Recinto Gabby Recinto 5'10" | SF Cherokee | 2023 State NJ (Jr.) – 5-10 SF/PF, Cherokee
Recinto is one of the best forwards in the state and has taken over well after key Cherokee forward Alexa Therien graduated in the spring. Many thought it would be Recinto who would step up as the next big name for the Chiefs and she’s done just that, attacking the lane with ferocity. She’s a fearless player inside the perimeter and is active on both sides of the floor, taking a more noticeable role on defense as well. That’s a very encouraging sign for the junior as the soon-to-be All-Conference forward continues to round out her game, becoming a multi-dimensional player.
Madison Clark (Jr.) – SF/PF, Haddon Heights
Clark has been the spark plug so far for the instant success that Haddon Heights is having this season and for good reason. She helped keep them in the Holmdel game with a game-high 26 points and scoring is the key to her overall success. While listed as a forward, Clark is more versatile like a guard at times and penetrates the lane well on drives. Her dribble drive ability is impressive, creating space for her to operate in the middle. This year more than ever, she’s commanded the floor well and is a more confident player. Both have translated in a big way to her overall game for the Garnets.
Emma Steidle (Jr.) – 5-6 PG/SG, Clearview
Steidle is having a career year for Clearview and the junior has come into her own as the top perimeter shooter in the Tri-County Conference. We’ve been following her progress as the season has continued and it just seems like her three-point shooting is getting better and better. Steidle is currently knocking down 3.3 three-pointers a game this season and that isn’t even what we believe to be her peak. This is one of the best three-point shooters in the state and one of the best in the Mid-Atlantic region. Steidle has put on a show so far and isn’t even close to slowing down.
Mia Robbins Mia Robbins 5'11" | C Eastern Regional | 2022 State NJ (Sr.) – 5-11 C/PF, Eastern
Robbins found her game after a rough patch toward the start of the season and has quickly become Eastern’s best player, guiding them to a 5-4 record in their last nine games after an 0-5 start. She’s a floor general and commands the offense from the middle, racking up points from quick jump hooks and layups while also welcoming contact in the lane. She’s hauling in rebounds efficiently and effectively while becoming more of a facilitator for the Vikings. Her perimeter defense has improved as well as her agility, and it’s created a dominant player who is back and ready to bring Eastern back.
Devyn Quigley Devyn Quigley 5'10" | SG Manchester Township | 2024 State NJ (So.) – 5-10 G/F, Manchester Township
Quigley has stepped up from the guard position in a big way for the Hawks this season. In just 11 games, she’s shattered her stats from last season and has become one of the top scorers in the Shore Conference, averaging nearly 21.5 PPG. This multi-dimensional guard possesses the skills of both a guard and forward and is not only able to make opponents pay in the middle, but can light it up from beyond the arc. Her midrange game is not something to overlook either. We’ve also seen her become a much more efficient passer and a more aggressive defensive presence, jumping out to steal a pass or swat a shot away.
