The Class of 2023 has a really nice mix of wings, and currently our Top-200 is home to 58 small forward prospects who make up 29.0% of all 2023 prospects ranked in Indiana. Among this group are point forwards, shooters, slashers, multilevel scorers, and talented, versatile athletes. Below is a look at those 58 prospects, as well as some added information and analysis on a handful of girls who have stood out since our last rankings update in September.

Crown Point | 2023

, 2023, 5-8 SF, Crown Point H.S.
– Brooke missed her Sophomore season due to an injury, but this year she has bounced back nicely and been a starter for a very good Bulldogs team. She is averaging 5.3 points and 4.2 rebounds on a loaded squad, and she is a really nice athlete with wiry strength. She can defend some 2s, 3s, and smaller 4s when necessary, and she can knock down an open jumper or attack the basket.

, 2023, 5-10 SF, Lawrenceburg H.S.
– Lizzie has stepped up big-time for Lawrenceburg this year, and she started to show that potential during a stretch in Louisville last July. She has nice length, an athletic frame, she’s willing to be physical, and she plays with a nice motor. She is versatile and can play an undersized ’4’ role when necessary. She is averaging 12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season.

Wapahani | 2023

, 2023, 5-10 SF, Wapahani H.S.
– Camryn was on my radar as a Varsity starter her Freshman year, but this season she has really turned a corner and become their go-to player. She is strong, has a solid frame, plays with versatility, and has a nice motor. She is averaging 18.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 3.5 steals per game in 2021-2022, and she has scored 20 or more points on 10 occasions, with a high of 31 points.

Winchester Community | 2023

, 2023, 5-11 SF, Winchester Community H.S.
– I have mentioned Caitlyn a few times before, because she has a lot of talent/upside. But she’s also a multisport kid who few people are familiar with, because she doesn’t participate in grassroots ball. She is long, fluid, smooth, and she is a playmaker, like a point forward. This year she is shooting and scoring it at a much higher level, and she has Winchester entering Sectional play with a 20-1 record.

Hamilton Southeastern | 2023
State
IN
, 2023, 6-2 SF, Hamilton Southeastern H.S.
– Riley is another player I’ve been high on throughout her high school career, and now that she has gotten stronger and more explosive, she is showing it on the high school stage. She leads the Royals in scoring at 17.4 points per game, and she’s capable of that because she can now absorb contact better at the rim, plus she’s shooting 71% from the charity stripe. She’s also a capable perimeter shooter.
Ava Weber

Corydon Central | 2023
State
IN
, 2023, 5-10 SF, Corydon Central H.S.
– Ava is another prospect who people don’t see much of, because she doesn’t do a lot of the grassroots stuff. She is a strong, athletic, point forward type, who can create offense for others or score it at all three levels herself. She has a unique instinct for the game, plus she plays with an outstanding motor. This year, Ava is averaging 20.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.8 steals per contest.

Huntington North | 2023
State

, 2023, 5-10 SF, Huntington North H.S.
– I am anxious to see Taylor this Spring and Summer, because she’s had a strong Winter for the Vikings. She is a nice athlete with a great frame, she’s shooting the ball consistently from outside, and she is able to knock down shots at all levels or attack the basket and finish inside. She’s also an effortful and versatile defender, and I’m curious to see her against elite competition during grassroots ball.
Rhylan Kalb

5'10" | PF
Northeast Dubois | 2023
IN
, 2023, 5-10 SF/PF, Northeast Dubois H.S.
– Rhylan has had a fantastic year for the Jeeps, averaging 19.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, plus she’s shooting 82% from the free throw line on just over seven attempts per game. She has a long and athletic frame, she’s able to post smaller defenders around the block, but she can also hit an open rhythm jumper or attack the basket off the dribble. Northeast Dubois is 16-5 heading into Sectional play.

University | 2023
State

, 2023, 5-6 SF, University H.S.
– Payton has turned herself into such a tough matchup, because she is a unique prospect. She grew up as more of a combo guard with the ability to score or facilitate. While she maintains solid ball skill and passing ability, plus the ability to score the ball at all three levels, she has also made her frame so strong, that she’s able to power her way to the basket and finish or use physicality defensively.
