After 10 weeks of play for girls High School Basketball, many frontcourt players have continued their display of competitiveness and improved play. With Moriarty’s [player_tooltip player_id="353754" first="Hannah" last="Beukelman"] and Taos’ Kionamua Ely leading the way.

As the month of January comes to an end, let’s take a look at who has progressed during district play at the frontcourt positions - the frontcourt consists of three total positions: the center position and two forward positions, small forward and power forwards.

Frontcourt Players

[player_tooltip player_id="353754" first="Hannah" last="Beukelman"], Senior, Moriarty

Senior center [player_tooltip player_id="353754" first="Hannah" last="Beukelman"] is a tremendous paint presence for the Moriarty Pintos. Standing at 6’4", Beukelman averages over 7 points per game with a majority of shot attempts within the restricted area and does a good job on the glass as she is currently grabbing north of 6 rebounds per game. The senior is a force on the defensive end as she averages 2 blocks a contest. Beukelman should continue her good play as the season continues on.

Brianna Stockton, Senior, Highland

Forward Brianna Stockton is the leading rebounder on an underrated Hornets teams. The Senior averages over 6 rebounds per game to go along with 6 points per game. Due to the teams unselfish point guard (Deniece Ryan), many frontcourt players such as Stockton benefit from the attention Ryan causes. Look for Stockton to continue being a key piece as the Hornets finish district play.

Allyson Fank, Senior, Cleveland

[player_tooltip player_id="353897" first="Allyson" last="Frank"] is a senior forward/center with good size. Standing at 5’11", Frank can battle inside with opposing frontcourt players and is not afraid to attempt multiple shots from the paint area regardless of make or miss. The Senior is a proficient free-throw shooter and can go the the line several times a game.

Kionamua Ely, Sophomore, Taos

Standing at 6’4", Kionamua of the Taos Tigers is another tremendous paint presence. Ely has a high upside being only a sophomore that already possesses good foot work in the paint area. Kionamua does a good job boxing out and obtaining legal rebounding position.

Rebekah Carpenter, Junior, Highland

Junior center Rebekah Carpenter is another piece for the Highland Hornets that will determine how far the Hornets advance in both district play and the state tournament. The senior comes in at 6’1", and averages over 5 points per game - Mostly off of putbacks or baby hooks within 8 feet of the bucket.
