2022, So, PG & SG, 5”8’, #32, Castro Valley High School (Castro Valley, CA), [player_tooltip player_id="361332" first="Lauren" last="Green"] - Most players get me excited to write about them, and [player_tooltip player_id="361332" first="Lauren" last="Green"] is one of those players. She has great shooting form and a keen awareness of her surroundings. She always knows when a defender is on her, and she also knows when she has an open shot. Let me tell you, if she has an open shot, she is taking it. Her shooting has very high accuracy, I believe this is due to the fact that she is smart about when to shoot. She has one of the quickest jump shots I have seen. Lauren was team captain as a sophomore, and I’m not surprised. Green averaged 12.2 PPG, 9.0 RPG, and 5.7 SPG. She plays with lots of control and never does anything rash that will cause a turnover. Lauren is always one of the most athletic players on the court, and her ball-handling skills are superb. [player_tooltip player_id="361332" first="Lauren" last="Green"] is one of the top players in the North Coast Section, and I’m excited to see the rest of her basketball career.
2022, 5’10, CG, Mayfair HS, [player_tooltip player_id="371153" first="Christaesha" last="Jackson"] – Athletic specimen on the floor, she has a good basketball body and is really strong and quick as she can be. Makes plays for her team at the point guard spot, and is patient on the floor and lets the game come to her. One of the most athletic girls in the tournament and holds her own on the floor, efficient scorer and also one of the best defenders on the floor as well.
2022, 5’5, PG, Newport Harbor 2022, [player_tooltip player_id="383964" first="Cydney" last="Jover"] - Jover is another solid combo guard capable of playing the one or the two. She’s a strong ball-handler and she pushes the ball on the break ahead of the defense. She can make plays on-ball, but she’s a good player off the ball as well. She moves on the perimeter and is a good catch and shoot player from three-point range. She was also one of the better defensive players I saw; she picks up on the perimeter and makes it tough on opposing guards.
2022, 5’2, CG, [player_tooltip player_id="384001" first="Sadye" last="Martinez"] – is the scoring guard of this group, she has been on the Varsity team since she was a freshman and she gave the team some good scoring then as well. She can handle the ball, she can score of the dribble and she is good at the midrange game scoring. She can defend and lock her opponent down with some pressure and make them turn it over for a score at her end of the floor.
2022, SG, [player_tooltip player_id="383966" first="Alyssa" last="Miller"] – She is a three point shot threat each and every time on the court, she steps into her shot and can knock down the shot with no effort. She can catch and shoot, she can swing thru and get to the rim, but her best attribute in the pull up shot she showed us numerous times. She has nice size for a player and is capable of putting it on the floor and making a floater over defensive players.
2022, 5’8, SG, Rolling Hills Prep, [player_tooltip player_id="384004" first="Kyra" last="Prendergrast"] - This was my second time seeing Prendergrast play and she’s the type of player who does a lot of little things that help win games. She may not have much height, but she’s a good rebounder. She fights in traffic and she can clean up misses around the rim. She keeps possessions alive on the offensive glass and can kick back out to the ball-handlers to reset the offense. If she gets the opportunity, she can finish offensively around the rim.
2022, 5’1, PG, Esperanza HS, [player_tooltip player_id="383954" first="Natalie" last="Sakoda"] – small guard with a heart of toughness, she runs the team to perfection in the set her coaches call and she is aggressive to the basket and to get in the seams and pass to her teammates. She can handle it well and does not make many mistakes on the floor which makes her very valuable to her team. She can stop and pop off the dribble in transition and she is good at scoring through contact.
2022, 6’0, SF, Mission Hills HS, [player_tooltip player_id="383953" first="Alina" last="Tran"] – Solid big bodied forward with the skills that can keep her ready for the next level, she uses her body well in the paint to seal her opponent as well as can step out and shoot the three ball. She is quite agile, runs the floor like a gazelle and can catch and finish through traffic and is a great rebounder. Can score from two levels which are getting to the basket and the midrange jumper, her three is in a working status at the moment.
2022, 5’8, CG, Washington Prep HS, [player_tooltip player_id="383976" first="Alexis" last="White"] – Good rebounder in the paint on the offensive and defensive sides of the court, can get up and down the floor. She is more agile and athletic for her team, but she is one of the two twin-towers that Washington is putting out on the floor. This girl can run the floor and make plays for her team.
2022, 5’7, CG, South Pasadena HS, [player_tooltip player_id="384035" first="Allysan" last="Tse"] - is a forward with good size that has some guard-like skills. She’s very comfortable with the ball in her hands and creating her own offense. Her size allows her to see the court well and she can rise up and shoot over the defense. She has a nice fadeaway jumper when she gets position in the post. She can get to the rim, but can do a better job at controlling her body and finishing through traffic. She has a nice crossover and can get to her spots on the court. Good rebounder.
