VOTE: PGH NJ’s Week 9 South Jersey Player of the Week

Week Nine of the 2021-22 New Jersey high school girls basketball season was a great one, with fantastic action across the board and some spectacular performances. In South Jersey, there was quite a number of standouts to choose from, so in this article, we’re giving you the power to choose your PGH NJ Player of the Week in South Jersey from Week Nine’s action. You can vote below or on our Twitter account, @PGHNewJersey, which you should make sure to follow for more great content coming up. Here are the four finalists. Alexa Henry (Fr.) - Lenape Henry has brought with her a level of tenacity and drive that this Lenape program hasn’t seen in years. Her freshman season has been nothing short of spectacular thus far and we’re beyond excited to see what she can do the remainder of her high school career. This week in particular, Henry had a career-high 30-point performance against Clearview on Feb. 12, averaging 22.0 PPG in the two games she played in the past week. Watch out for Henry to continue to amaze as the regular season winds down. Avery Jackson (Jr.) - Ocean City Jackson and Ocean City had quite the eventful week of games, going 4-0 to propel itself back into contention in the Cape-Atlantic League. The junior was a major reason for that, averaging 17.0 PPG and 2.7 made three-pointers in three games for the Red Raiders. Her 21-point game in a one-point win over Vineland on Feb. 9 was her third 20+ point game of the season to date. She’s been a key asset for this team as they continue to shake up the conference. Nile Miller Nile Miller 6'1" | PF Woodbury | 2022 State NJ (Sr.) - Woodbury Since Miller’s 30-day transfer waiting period has ended and she’s come into the Woodbury lineup, she’s been a dominant force. This past week, Miller averaged 14.3 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 3.0 APG and 5.8 SPG for the Thundering Herd, who went 4-0 over the week. Her three double-doubles over the week bring her double-double total on the season to eight. Through Saturday, Miller is averaging 14.4 PPG and 9.1 RPG, second on the team in scoring and rebounding overall. Amaya Burch Amaya Burch 5'7" | SG Timber Creek | 2022 State NJ (Sr.) - Timber Creek Burch reached a big milestone earlier this week, reaching 1000 career points in her high school career, but last week, she extended her 20-point scoring streak to five-straight games, averaging 22.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG and 3.0 APG in two games for the Chargers. Burch is having a career year and then some as a senior and has scored 20 points or more in 17 of her now 19 games played on the year. Through Monday’s games, Burch is averaging 24.3 PPG and 8.2 RPG this season for Timber Creek.
