Best Single-Game Performances (South Florida)

It was a great season for South Florida basketball. I witnessed a number of great players and future state champions around the region. That also included a number of fantastic individual showings. What were some of the best? Below is some of my picks that I witnessed or came across... [player_tooltip player_id="219941" first="Madison" last="Aguilera"] - Gulliver Prep (vs. North Broward Prep) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="219941" first="Madison" last="Aguilera"] had one of the best offensive performances of the season when she went for 35 points and nine 3-pointers against North Broward Prep. The 5-foot-4 guard shot an incredible 82 percent from deep! Aguilera was automatic from everywhere on that day. In addition, she scored off dribble penetration and was an accurate passer. Of note, Aguilera scored her 1000th career point this season. Overall, she averaged 21.8 points and 4.7 assist per game. [player_tooltip player_id="349372" first="Fenishka" last="Bertho"] - North Miami 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="349372" first="Fenishka" last="Bertho"] had a big season for a North Miami team that finished with a 15-7 record. The 6-foot-3 center averaged 19.1 points and 14.6 rebounds per game. In a contest against North Miami Beach, Bertho had 16 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. Overall, she grabbed ten or more boards in 15 listed games. Of note, Bertho collected 23 rebounds and added 25 points against Dwyer. Her frame is really tough to contain inside the paint. Any improvement in her footwork and athleticism and Bertho could really take off. [player_tooltip player_id="91595" first="Samiyah" last="Briggs"] - Calvary Christian Academy 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="91595" first="Samiyah" last="Briggs"] played well in a game against Cardinal Gibbons. The 5-foot-8 captain scored 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds while shooting 9-of-14 (64 percent) from the field. That was one of 11 games for Briggs in which she shot 60 percent or better from the floor. Furthermore, she went a season-high 73 percent from the field and scored 25 points against Westlake. [player_tooltip player_id="219924" first="Khadee" last="Hession"] - Mater Lakes Academy 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="219924" first="Khadee" last="Hession"] had a good season after transferring over from Delray American Heritage. The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 11.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 4.9 steals per game. Against a strong Western team, Hession had a triple-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds and ten steals while shooting 11-of-14 from the field. Overall, Hession has great length and natural athleticism to be effective on both ends of the floor, especially from the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id="219927" first="Ka’Zahria" last="Johnson"] - Miami Norland 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="219927" first="Ka’Zahria" last="Johnson"] is one of the better frontcourt/rim protectors in South Florida. The 6-foot-2 prospect averaged 11.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. Recently, Johnson had 19 points,14 rebounds, and four blocks against an Okeechobee team that went 20-5 overall. Johnson also had a 25-rebound game against Somerset Academy Silver Palms. Her offensive game should continue to polish to go along with her high-end defensive skill set.
