The 2023 class is filled with some talented young ladies who suit up to play on the hardwood . From dynamic guards to bigs who can anchor the paint, the ‘23 class has it all. Throughout the course of the year, we saw hoopers take huge strides as they delivered for their club time and time again. This season, we saw those come into their own, as milestones were knocked down and new records were set. The 2023 class is talented from top to bottom. However, PGH Tennessee would like to recognize some girls who increased their stock over the year. From putting in the extra work in the gym when no one else is in the gym, to performing at a high level when the light came on. Here are a few notable girls across the state whose stock increased this past season. [player_tooltip player_id="285387" first="Emaleigh" last="Tarpley"] (5’10/W/Jr./ Rockvale)- This fiery player was the year and soul for her Lady Rockets club. Scoring threat from inside and out, Tarpley made an impact all over the court. From making buckets, making timely assists, rebounding, and playing tenacious defense, she was one of the leading catalysts that saw the Lady Rockets go deep in their young school history. [player_tooltip player_id="285366" first="LaTasia" last="Williamson"] (6’2/C/Jr./ Hillsboro)- Was a force down the stretch for her Lady Burros club. With great footwork around the basket and a soft touch from 15ft, LaTasia was a beast when it came to scoring the rock. On the defensive end, she was heavy on the boards and created a “no fly zone” as she blocked shots in her area. A great two-way player with huge upside as she continues to play the game. [player_tooltip player_id="285369" first="Abby" last="McFarland"] (5’8/ SG/ Jr./ PCA)- This gym-rat was one of the leading scorers for her club this season. She knocked down shots from the arc and had a nice mid-range game. She was active on the defensive end, creating extra possessions that led to easy buckets. Abby is a solid fundamental player who makes those around her better by the way she plays. When she is on the court, something good will always happen. [player_tooltip player_id="321872" first="Crysti’anna" last="Whitehead"] (5’10/SF/Jr./ MBA)- Shaq continues to be impressive as she and her club creates a lasting legacy. This hooper is a sharpshooter who can knock shots down at a high clip from inside and out. With great court vision, her ability to read and react creates opportunities both for herself and others on her team. Brings a tenacious attitude on both ends of the floor. Recently, she committed to Central Arkansas giving the Lady Bears a tremendous addition that will help their program as soon as she steps on campus . [player_tooltip player_id="399927" first="Amaria" last="Gillispie"] (5’9/W/Jr./ BGA)- Was a great addition to the new Coach Myles Thrash era. Amaria was a bucket go-getter for her squad. She was big-time from the mid-range, around the painted area, and finished through contact as she was huge on the glass. Her ability to defend and lockdown players was key down the stretch for her club. Look for her to make even more strides as she gains more confidence and becomes more comfortable in her coach’s system. [player_tooltip player_id="399643" first="Lyndie" last="Ramsey"] (6’0/PG/Jr./ Unaka)- A bucket getter, the secret is out and this sharpshooter is bursting in the seams. A crazy scoring guard who can score it on multiple levels. From knocking it down from beyond the arc to attacking gaps, she’s a pure Hooper who can find the bottom of the net. Though she is known for her offensive prowess, she contributes highly on the boards as well. A walking double/ double on any given night. [player_tooltip player_id="245301" first="Lauren" last="Bailey"] (5’10/SF/Jr./ Greenville)- Impact player who can score the ball. Mid-range , 3 ball, around the bucket, Lauren can finish with the best of them. Her size and length creates mismatches, where she knows how to exploit her opponent’s weaknesses. There is more to her game than the offensive stat sheet, Lauren is a key contributor on the defensive end. Doing the little things and contributing on the boards, LB is a tremendous player who has a huge upside. [player_tooltip player_id="399641" first="Bree" last="Robinson"] (5’8/ SG/ Jr. Webb- Bell Buckle)- This dynamic Canadian was a huge contributor for the Lady Feet. A lockdown defender , she created havoc nightly against opponents. She prides herself on her D, but her O is sensational as well. From knocking down 3 balls to unleashing her mid-range J, this kid was a challenge for anyone. An unselfish kid who can distribute the ball and plays within the framework of the offense. Built differently as she plays the game with a tenacious passion and celebrates the success of her teammates. [player_tooltip player_id="245288" first="Keira" last="Leffew"] (6’0/SG/Jr./ CAK)- Possesses a quick first step, Kiera can get to the basket and score the rock. Has a nice touch from beyond the arc and the mid-range, her game speaks for itself as she carves through defenses left and right. Can play inside and out, she’s a scoring threat no matter where she is. Defensively, her length creates problems for opponents. She’s big time on the boards, leading to transition breaks. Has such a tremendous upside and a bright future ahead of her. [player_tooltip player_id="245306" first="Brittani" last="Wells"] (5’7/PG/Jr./Arlington)- Tough floor general who is such a heady player. Can facilitate the rock, yet unleash shots at a high clip. Always looking to attack, yet stays cool and calm while she conducts the offense. A defensive threat , Brittani looks to get steals and deflections leading to transitional buckets. Hard working kid who is one of the leading catalysts for a talented Arlington club.
