- Kyleigh Scoggins Kyleigh Scoggins 5'9" | PG Nashville | 2023 State AR , 5’8” Junior Guard, Nashville-Kyleigh is a multi-purpose guard and a team leader. Her basketball IQ is extremely high. She can score, she can dish, and she can rebound. Kyleigh has excellent balance and her court vision is outstanding. Look for her to lead her team back to the playoffs with a chance to win back-to-back titles.
-Aaliyah Hollies, 5’9” Sophomore Forward, Nashville-Aaliyah is a strong power forward that delivered team energy off the bench. Her aggressiveness is unrelenting. She plays much bigger than her 5’9” frame. She likes to face the basket and penetrate, but can also post up. Aaliyah will be a starter and play a huge role in the Scrappers success next season.
-Gracie Hill, 5’10” Junior Forward, Bauxite-Gracie plays in the paint for the most part with her back to the basket. She is a proficient free throw shooter and gets to the line often. With strength conditioning and summer AAU play, Gracie can be one of the top performers in 4A-7 next season.
-Kara Martin, 5’7” Junior Guard, Fountain Lake-Kara leads the team on offense. She handles the ball on every possession. Kara gets out on the fast break quickly and can sting the opponents with transition baskets. Her leadership should carry the Lady Cobras to a playoff berth this coming season.
-Olivia Dean and Caroline Dean, Both 5’6” Sophomore and Freshman Swing Guards, Nashville-This tandem were a one-two punch off the bench. Both logged several minutes for the 4-A State Champions and will continue that in the next two seasons. Look for this duo to keep Nashville on top.
-Belle Lindsay, 5’8” Junior Guard, De Queen-Belle will carry the load at the point guard position for the Lady Leopards next season. She split duties with a senior and now it’s all hers. She has good range at the three-line and is an excellent free-throw shooter. She is strong and creates match-up issues for the opposition. With some help from her teammate’s she can lead De Queen to another playoff run next year.
-Brooklyn Pennington, 5’7” Junior Guard, Mena-Brooklyn is an excellent one-on-one player. She can penetrate and score or get the foul. She’s quick and can go either direction with the ball. Her strength and that quick first step opens up the offense for her teammates.
-Abby Beene, 5’8” Junior Guard, Bauxite-Abby will probably share the point guard duties next year. She’ll need to look to score more. Her size can be a benefit on offense for those scoring opportunities. The inside-out combo with Gracie Hill will produce many wins and a potential deep run in the post-season for the Miners.
-Mary Drake, 5’8” Sophomore Swing Forward, Fountain Lake-Mary has the size to make a huge impact on the Lady Cobras success next season. Her strength in the paint can produce scoring opportunities for her team. Mary moves well without the ball and can get open quickly. If she can improve her outside shooting, her strength inside will be that much more effective. Look for good things to happen for Fountain Lake next season.
-Madilyn Lyle, 5’6” Junior Point Guard, Mena-Madilyn does everything a point guard should do. She gets the offense started and does not turn it over. She can hit the three but is much more reliable inside the arc. Madilyn is an excellent free throw shooter and can dish off for uncontested shots. Look for the Ladycats to make another playoff run.
That does it for my 2021-22 season view of special underclassmen performers in 4A. Next, I’ll share the top 5A top performers.
