Peach Games: 17U Day 1 Backcourt Standouts
2025 5-6 G [player_tooltip player_id="425449" first="Katherine" last="Atha"] – Atlanta Cagers BlueChip 2023 – Calhoun
The tough-nosed freshman comes from a long line of athletic standouts. It’s clear to tell Kat has already been in the weight room. Following a successful freshman season, Atha is playing up at the 17U level and holding her own as a feisty on-ball defender willing to pick up full court. She does a good job of turning opposing guards and has enough foot speed to recover when beat off the dribble. Atha shoots the three with accuracy and isn’t afraid to mix it up on the glass.
2024 5-6 PG [player_tooltip player_id="316145" first="Jasmine" last="Perez"] – Atlanta Cagers BlueChip 2023 – Centennial
Known for her explosive scoring, [player_tooltip player_id="316145" first="Jasmine" last="Perez"] used her speed to break down the defense and set up her teammates as a facilitator on Friday night. Perez racked up 2 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Perez is an elusive playmaker that has a quick crossover that opens up scoring chances for herself and others. She’s a breakout candidate to watch over the Summer and during her junior season after missing her sophomore campaign.
2024 5-9 G [player_tooltip player_id="425452" first="Julia" last="Susla"] – GA Pearls Jr. National – Trinity Christian
[player_tooltip player_id="425452" first="Julia" last="Susla"] made a positive first impression with her aggressive approach. A fluid athlete, Susla hunts her offense off the dribble. She can get all the way to the rim with scoop finishes but she also really likes the pull-up jumper which has range out to the three-point line. Susla has wiggle to her game and could be a name to track moving forward. She netted 11 out of the Pearls’ 25 points on Friday.
2023 5-8 PG [player_tooltip player_id="188327" first="Ayana" last="Boyd"] – FBC Bounce Nation Jay 2023 – Lovejoy
The tenacity and effort of [player_tooltip player_id="188327" first="Ayana" last="Boyd"] set the tone in a 53-26 victory. Boyd played bully ball on defense, ripping away steals right out of opponents’ hands, sparking a countless amount of fast breaks which turned the game into a layup line. The lefty scored all her points at the rim, using her fast twitch shiftiness to leave defenders in the dust when making a move on the perimeter. Boyd racked up 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 8 steals and 1 block. Off to a strong start this Spring, Boyd is on her way to being a major stock riser heading into her senior season.
2023 5-7 G Quamiya Ward – FBC Bounce Nation Jay 2023 – Eagle’s Landing
Quamiya Ward is a versatile player. She’s a strong body guard that has enough physicality to double as a wing, especially on defense. Ward brings a toughness to the Bounce Nation backcourt and can help exploit mismatches on offense. She put up 10 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals on Friday night.
