Summer League Standouts – Week One!

<h6 style="text-align: center;">This past week and a half I’ve attended a couple of summer league shootouts in my local area and was able to see some incoming freshman, JV, and future varsity players that I haven’t seen before.</h6> <h6 style="text-align: center;">Below are a mix of Freshman, JV, and Varsity standouts from Week 1 of the Summer Shootouts hosted at Montini and Addison Trail.</h6> &nbsp; ’26 Nidda Nabeel | 5’3 Guard | Downers Grove North A high-energy small guard who plays with the utmost confidence. Nabeel has great instincts with and without the ball. She can put the ball on the floor, finish around or against contact, or shoot the long ball. She shows some aggression on the defensive side as well. A very talented player who has tons of potential to be a solid guard. ’26 Natalie Frempong | 5’5 Guard | Naperville North Frempong’s size does not match her style of play at all... however, she knows how to use her size to her advantage. The sharpshooting freshman showed great potential to be a top combo guard in her area. Natalie shoots the ball with accuracy and tons of arc. She can also attack the basket with her speed and quickness. Huge upside. ’23 [player_tooltip player_id="335742" first="Maggie" last="Fleming"] | 5’11 Guard | Downers Grove North Plays the game with aggression but with great tempo. Fleming is a high-motored guard that can create her shot at every level, while also being able to defend 1-3 with her athleticism and discipline. She can also make things difficult for the 4/5 by her using her strength and determination. This will be a strong senior season for Maggie. ’26 Quinn Arundel | 5’4 Guard | Mother McCauley Not a stretch to say that Arundel might be the best shooter in her class, her precision and movement without the ball is the key behind that. In multiple games, Quinn has dropped 5+ threes, and they’ve been mostly contested but some wide-open ones as well. She runs the point guard position with tremendous maturity and tempo. Solid vision, strong ball control, and a willing passer. ’24 [player_tooltip player_id="265979" first="Lexi" last="DiOrio"] | 5’8 Combo Guard | St Charles East A lot of speed and power comes from DiOrio when she attacks the rim. She’s built to finish through contact, and skilled enough to finish around the contact. Lexi plays with a chip, and her IQ (on both sides) allows her to play multiple positions while still contributing at a high level for her team. I definitely see Lexi’s role and overall game increasing this upcoming fall. Great motor. High Potential. ’24 Kira Holiday | 5’5 Guard | Lake Park Lanky, athletic and can play off or on the ball like a guard. Holiday has all the tools to be a very good combo guard. Strong ball handling, great lateral movement, long frame to defend on-ball and in the gap, while also having the stamina to play a deep amount of minutes. Her scoring ability comes at all levels but seeks to attack the rim. ’23 [player_tooltip player_id="204906" first="Nina" last="Nytko"] | 5’4 Guard | Willowbrook A shifty, crafty guard who can attack the hole with speed, aggression, and patience. Nytko might not be the biggest guard on the court but plays much bigger than she is. Nina has the ability to score from the arc but uses her handles to find her way to the bucket on most possessions. This senior season will be a coming-out party for her.
