Kentucky’s Best Rebounders

With the high school season over and the AAU season in full swing, I'm attempting to take inventory of the returning players and teams for the 2019-2020 season. The 2019 class was dominant across the state. With those ladies out the door, we break down which players should be expected to be near the top of the stats leaders lists next season. These are in <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>No Particular Order</strong></span> and are not the same as class rankings. <strong>Madison Thompson, Martin County - </strong>She was the leading scorer and rebounder for Sheldon Clark in it's last year of existence. After grabbing 14.5 rebounds per game this season, Thompson is in a good spot to lead the state again next season. <strong>Marissa Gasaway, Eastern - </strong>Marissa is only going to be a Junior this year and is among the best college prospects in the state. One of the best 2021s in Kentucky, Gasaway is going to have an even more expanded role with graduation leaving her as the top scorer and rebounder for the Eagles. <strong>Delaney Enlow, Woodford County - </strong>One of the top returning players in the 8th region (Woodford moves to the 8th starting next season), Enlow averaged an impressive 18 points and 12.9 rebounds as a Junior and will return with hopes of leading the Lady Jackets to Rupp Arena after getting away from the 11th region. <strong>Makena Rush, McLean County - </strong>After narrowly missing a double double average as a Sophomore, Rush should be among the state leaders in rebounding next season after averaging 12.4 per game this season. Don't be surprised if Makena has multiple 20 point and 15 rebound outings in her Junior season. <strong>Amelia Murray, Owsley County - </strong>Very similar to Rush, Murray narrowly missed a double double average as a Sophomore. She's part of the core of an Owsley team that returns almost everyone and will expect to be a factor in the 14th region this year. Look for Amelia to be a top post player in the region. <strong>Malea Williams, Scott County -</strong> The most popular recruit in Kentucky the last two weeks, Malea is on the brink of being a star for the Lady Cardinals next season. Not only is she a good rebounder, Williams is a dynamic all around player for the Lady Cardinals and will be one of the best players in the 11th next season. <strong>Shelby Calhoun, Christian Academy of Louisville - </strong>You don't see a ton of guards who can average almost 12 rebounds per game but Shelby isn't just any guard. She's a top recruit in the country and for good reason. Look for Calhoun to be the best player in Louisville this season. <strong>Jade Pevley, Garrard County - </strong>The only rising Sophomore to land on our list, Pevley averaged over 11 rebounds per game in her freshman season. Assuming she continues to develop, Jade could end up a top rebounder in state history by the time she graduates in 2022.
