Fargo Davies:

Coach Safranski and her Davies are one of the top teams in the EDC and in the State. They are coming back this year and they have one thing in mind, a state title shot. Last year the Davies had a great season going 24-3 overall and 18-2 in the EDC. They come back with a very strong line-up filled with some veteran players that know how to flat out play on both sides of the court. They will be returning 2 Seniors and 2 Juniors and numerous underclassman that will be stepping up, doing their part. Let's take a look at some of the key players coming back, ready to battle!

[player_tooltip player_id='100444' first='Maci' last='Wheeldon'] a 6'2 Senior Center is returning for her final season with the Davies and she will play a key roll for them. Wheeldon has good size to her, a solid frame and can gets up and down the court well. She showed her shooting abilities last year hitting 47% from the floor and also pulled down 107 rebounds. This coming year be on the lookout for her to really to increase her numbers in the paint offensively and defensively alike. She's tall, can hit shots consistently from 10-15' and has a nice touch off the glass to add to her list of skills.

[player_tooltip player_id='218144' first='Karley' last='Franks'] the 5'7 Junior Guard had a great season last year, and was one of the leading scorers in the EDC with 346pts 12.6ppg, 50 assists and 60 steals as well. She's a sanctioned shooter who knows how to leave her mark on the floor every night. Last year she shot 41% from the field and 38% from behind the arch hitting 64/167 3-pointers, she isn't the one you want to leave open to say the least. She has so many good qualities to her game offensively and defensively its hard to choose which is her best. She is another player that has every ability to play at the next level. The scary thing is she is only a Junior, and the sky is the limit for her.

[player_tooltip player_id='240173' first='Ashton' last='Safranski'] will also be another key player and leader for the Davies. We all know her name all to well, and for the right reasons, she is a baller true and true to say the least. Ashton will be coming back after a great Sophomore season where she put up 316pts 12.2ppg, was #1 in steals in the EDC with 146/5.6spg and #2 in assists with 122/4.7apg. She is a very composed/refined player on both ends of the court. Ashton has great speed, sees the floor incredibly well and knows how to make plays happen. This year I can see her putting up even bigger numbers then she did last year, but one thing for certain, she is a pure playmaker every game. She will be a big figure on the floor for the Davies, and the excitement about her is real.

Another returner coming back for her final season is Senior [player_tooltip player_id='100423' first='Ashley' last='Wacha']. The 5'9 G/F plays just like the back of her warm-up shirt said last year, RELENTLESS. Ashley is a hard-working player who always seems to be involved in every play weather its passing, scoring, rebounding or fighting for the ball, qualities we can all appreciate. Last year as a Junior she had 227pts 8.4ppg, pulled down 123 rebounds and had a respectable 41 assist and shot 44% from the floor. Wacha is versatile playing inside and out, there isn't really any specific spot she cant play which is another added bonus to the Davies. She may not put up the biggest numbers every game, but she has numbers in ever column of the stat sheet. She will be coming back hungry, and ready to make her presence even more known on the court. Another all-around fun player to watch.

Devils Lake:

The Devils Lake Firebirds are entering the 22-23' season with a younger line-up, but a line-up filled with some gifted players who know how to play, and play well. The Firebirds went 10-13 overall and 9-11 in the EDC. Let's take a look at some of their returners, looking to make some noise in the EDC.

[player_tooltip player_id='409200' first='Torri' last='Fee'] a 5'4 Sophomore Guard will be coming back and will be a key player for the Firebirds. As a Freshman she had 177pts, 7.7ppg, 43 steals, 101 rebounds and shot a respectable 39% from the field. Torri has good ball handling abilities to her, moves well around the court and wont hesitate to let the shot fly. She has a good sense on what is going on, sees the floor well and knows how to find an open teammate. Defensively she's a sticky defender, who uses her quick hands to steal the ball and run it back. She is going to be one to keep an eye on in the years to come. She is young, and talented.

Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='316053' first='Cabryn' last='Fritel'] a 5'10 F will be looking to make her mark in the EDC this year as well. Last year as a Freshman she had 192pts/8.7ppg, 132 rebounds, and shot 44% on the floor. She has good size to her, moves well in in the paint and knows how to use her body blocking out. This coming year she will be a "go-to" around the rim looking for the soft touch off the glass, and will also be a big figure on defense pulling down the boards. Cabryn has a lot of good qualities to her game, and I expect her numbers to rise significantly this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='243758' first='Jadyn' last='Frelich'] a 5'6 Junior G will be another key figure on the court for the firebirds. Frelich is a gifted shooter inside and outside and you can expect to see her shooting even more this year. Last year she had 159pts 7.2ppg, shot 39% from the floor and was 30% from behind the arch. She is a scrappy guard that moves well side to side and puts good pressure on the defense. She knows her roll on both sides of the court, she another one you don't want to leave open.

Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='410417' first='Claire' last='Heilman'] a 5'9 F who will be another versatile player on the court for the Firebirds. She has has a good frame to her size and is aggressive around the rim . Last year she had 117pts/5ppg, 102 rebounds and shot 31%. Claire may be young but with more time on the court (which she will see this year) she will be a big part of Devils Lakes offense and defense. She can knock down shots inside and isn't afraid to shoot from behind the arch either, not to mention she proved she can rip the ball down off the glass. This coming year could be Heilman's breakout year and really make some noise in the EDC.
