Top Five New Additions to PGH NJ’s 2023 Rankings

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The biggest rankings update of any that we've done here with Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey was completed with the 2023 class. Nearly 300 new names were added and 250 of the new 362 prospects on the list are ranked. Such a large undertaking brings with it quite a large amount of coverage, so along with the top five prospects in this class, here are the top five new additions to the rankings and where they landed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>No. 16: [player_tooltip player_id='482255' first='Zoie' last='Maffei'] - 5-11 SF, Jackson Memorial</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Maffei was mistakenly left off previous rankings and is one of the best forwards in this 2023 class and the state. She put on an absolute display at Jackson Memorial last season and is expected to do much the same, if not more, this season. Playing for the Jersey Gemz over the summer, she's gotten plenty of exposure on the AAU scene and really has continued to develop a well-rounded game that's truly one of the best in the Garden State. If you thought last year was her big year, watch out.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>No. 24: [player_tooltip player_id='482328' first='Amanda' last='Rosen'] - 5-10 SF, Ramsey</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ramsey is the best of both worlds on the floor, a fantastic shooter and scorer as well as a dominant defensive player who is easily one of the best shot-blockers in New Jersey. She's prided herself on her post presence on both sides of the ball and it's showed in a big way. Her growth from her sophomore to junior year was considerable and significant, so expect her to continue to grow as a senior, blossoming into a premier talent down low.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>No. 29: [player_tooltip player_id='483094' first='Ashley' last='Kuperus'] - PF, High Point</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Scoring has become the name of Kuperus's game in a way that we really haven't seen from her in her high school career. She's not just someone who is great in the paint, can post up against anyone and establish positioning quickly that will lead to scoring opportunities or defensive stops. Kuperus has developed a fantastic outside game that's led to her being a great three-point shooter and a great shooter overall. She's truly a pure scorer and has built off that foundation.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>No. 30: [player_tooltip player_id='481518' first='Madison' last='Clark'] - SF, Haddon Heights</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Clark might not get the recognition of other forwards in the state, but she's been an absolute force for the Garnets in her high school career. If you want someone who is going to guarantee you points in the paint, Clark is is a go-to in that category and she's been able to do it against the best of them in the Garden State. The South Jersey stereotype is long gone because the talent coming out of there is substantial, just like Clark, expected to be one of the best in the region this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>No. 32: [player_tooltip player_id='481575' first='Jada' last='Jacobs'] - 5-6 PG, Medford Tech</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jacobs is another relatively unknown commodity that absolutely showed out during her junior year with Medford Tech, attacking the paint well and getting to the foul line often. We're really impressed with her ability to create in the lane and her ability to be physical, which has allowed her to welcome contact. She's very much a scorer, one of the best in South Jersey at that rate, so the more she can create both inside and outside the perimeter, the better she'll continue to be.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
