New Jersey Recruiting Update 9/19

<p>We've seen a number of players announce their commitments this month in the Garden State, a fantastic sign about the sheer depth of girls basketball that New Jersey has and great news for these players being able to continue their basketball careers into college. It's time to recap some of the latest commitments of New Jersey prospects over the last few weeks.</p>   <p>We start with a commitment that was announced on Monday as Red Bank Regional guard/wing player Josie Munson posted that she committed to New York University to play women's basketball there.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/JosieMunson5/status/1571889066857086976?s=20&t=ju0iB08v5CNZr0eotxqtOw </div></figure>   <p>The 5-11 guard averaged in double figures as a junior for RBR and has shined in AAU play for the NJ Shoreshots this summer. Munson has the height and size to really dominate in college and she'll get that chance with the Violets.</p>   <p>Next up on the commitment list is senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='159079' first='Grace' last='Kowalski'] out of Montville, who posted on Twitter on September 16 that she had committed to The College of New Jersey to play for the Lions in college.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/GraceKowalski14/status/1570958264376102914?s=20&t=ju0iB08v5CNZr0eotxqtOw </div></figure>   <p>Kowalski has been quite the three-point shooting threat for Montville in her career, knocking down a career-high 46 threes during her junior year. She's also one who knows how to dominate on the offensive side the basketball. Kowalski has starting point guard potential written all over her, especially when watching her pass. What a facilitator she is on the court.</p>   <p>The next player we want to highlight is Mia Walsh, a senior out of Saddle River Day, who also made her commitment announcement on Sept. 16. Walsh will be headed to continue her college ball at Gettysburg College next fall.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/miawalsh05/status/1570731143829532672?s=20&t=JeOMUIFd01xu0xLq2MOfSA </div></figure>   <p>She's made her presence felt in the AAU circuit and gotten looks from there playing for the NJ Panthers as of recently. After tearing her ACL, missing the entire 2021-22 season, Walsh tore her other ACL this summer, having gotten surgery and working on recovery since late June/early July. </p>   <p>There's a great probability that she'll miss her entire senior season with the Colonial Rebels, but Walsh is fast and agile on the court and can finish at the cup with the best of them.</p>   <p>The last commitment will be talking about is [player_tooltip player_id='321561' first='Emma' last='Starr'], who announced on Sept. 11 that she will be continuing her basketball career at Emory University in Atlanta via Twitter.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/EmmaStarr233/status/1568993007340224518?s=20&t=JeOMUIFd01xu0xLq2MOfSA </div></figure>   <p>Starr has absolutely been nothing short of incredible with Northern Highlands, especially after last season's performances. She's a fantastic three-point shooter, an aggressive defensive player and rebounder, a facilitator in the making and a well-balanced overall skillset. She'll light things up in the ATL without a doubt.</p>   <p>Our last player update for this article is Paul VI guard [player_tooltip player_id='488637' first='Shariah' last='Baynes'], who just picked up an offer from James Madison University, another Division 1 offer for her. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/shariahbaynes2/status/1569101814384959489?s=20&t=JeOMUIFd01xu0xLq2MOfSA </div></figure>   <p>If you didn't get a chance to see Baynes ball out with the Philly Belles this summer during AAU ball, you'll get plenty of opportunities to see her during the high school season, one of three must-watch players on the Eagles' roster. She has the all-around skillset, the maturity and poise of a college player already and she's only just a junior this seaso.</p>
